i always recommend doing drawings from life because i think they help with all sorts of stuff but really the key is to just draw what you want to draw. people who draw professionally should heed this advice as well but if your just drawing in a fandom do what you want, if people like it they like it, if they dont like it they dont. i like your stuff and will continue watching it as long as i am here.

if your looking for a practice assignment to improve your skills i have two similar ones. do a spoof of an early children's book, ie, large text on the side or bottom. the other project is to redo a comic book page (i can send you a good one if you like) take the frame and the talk bubbles of the comic book page and remove everything else, then you make your words and characters fit in that. the comic book one will probably be the most useful project and now that i have suggested it i want to do it too :P
anyway keep drawing and have fun, thats the most important part.
also sorry for super long post that doesn't answer any of your questions

Well, to be honest, I can't "tell" you what and what not to draw. It's all in your choice, and the only advice I can give is you is that you should be proud and happy on what you draw. It is a way to express yourself - whether you're in a magnanimous or emo mood. Have fun drawing.
