FA Changes for August
Just a note: starting July 1st, we're working towards re-designing our site to progress with our new UI (after almost 5 years!) as well as significant bug-fixing and updates under-the-hood as part of a hefty summer update. Yes, commission pages and much more will be addressed.
We'll also be re-vamping advertising to go onto site, and all active advertisers on the site will need to redo their ads to meet our new criteria (more information soon). We recognize that this may be an inconvenience to current advertisers, so here's the current plan:
1/mo or less - Advertisers with a month less or time will be offered an additional two weeks of advertising time (free) if they wish to re-submit their ads.
2/mo or more - Advertisers with two months or more remaining on their timeslots will be extended 50% of their time. Conventions or other time specific ventures will be given a credit of time towards their next advertising slot on FA.
Some more information will be coming soon (post Anthrocon) once we can sit down and map out the direction of things.
Announcements soon.

He already sent an email apology
Please? He;s 17 now. He's learn his lesson and he's never do it again
He probably believed his submissions weren't risque so long as it didn't get close to "X" rated. I thought nothing of them either...but in the end, both of us were wrong, having misinterpreted the rules.

A shame they posted a pic of their page after doing it.
It would be better if they had had someone else take a pic, It's all a bit attention whore-ish. Loldrama.
Nah, I don't care. :V
The incident with WolfgerLion64 was about 3 months ago. I'm a friend of his, and he sent an e-mail of apology for his actions.
Don't get your butt-fluff in a twist over this, It's all in a bit of good fun.
Really?
lol
MY SHIFT KEY IS SO HARD RIGHT NOW
But yeah, prints along with posting and I am a happy camper. Only thing would be payment, since PayPal does have that issue with adult stuff. They're using AlertPay, which's cool, though relatively not as frequent as PayPal
this is assuming that their print quality is good (i don't know, never ordered from them.)
ah well.
though i guess it isn't really going to stop people from posting links to an online shop to sell prints in whatever submission they've got up.
and this whole thread is just killing me from laughter
You rock dragoneer and care for us Austrlain's who fear we may lose the sight due to our laws and such. So far though, its looking good.
*Big hugs for you*
don't web 2.0 it
don't web 2.0 it
don't web 2.0 it
if anything else asks me to sign into tweater or facefuck I'm going to bastard scream
Ajax and shit tho would be sexy.
For now, I will manually create any accounts needed if people send me an e-mail to admin@furaffinity.net. Just keep in mind I'm doing this all by hand, so responses may not be instantaneous.
But I'll keep it at that~
Should we magically break off all our plans because somebody launched another site?
vomitWeb 2.0 on top.Their submission process- after going through it only once- coupled with site navigation in general and their UTTER LACK OF USER CONTROL IN THE SETTINGS has driven me away from them for good.
In short, I love
you, 'NeerFA.If you want a good laugh, read their Acceptable Content Policy. No humans/semi-humans, no photography, no live video, no screenshots, anything. So I guess if you want nothing more out of a site than to sell your art, it's great, but that's about it.
It's a slow, clunky deviantART that allows music and porn.
Though that's just my opinion.
It's kind of depressing they are taking the low road and instituting such a ridiculous policy. The true colors come through with the "humans are okay in stories but not if in a sexual situation" part.
And yes, it's slow. I'd tab out to other pages when trying to check on their rules to see them for myself.
I ask, of course, because I'm looking at things I need to take care of for RCFM in the upcoming months. =3
In the mean time, people can still use the standard ad sizes. My advise is just make two to be prepared for the roll over.
By the way, I'll keep a weather eye on the announcements and bug you after the UI update gets rolled out about a possible con ad trade.
i did it fur teh lulz
Apple would never allow an iPhone app for FA as it is given their draconian rules that results in even a nipple being seen as as being against their developer TOS.
Sounds great though, I gotta admit sometimes I do get bored of layouts on sites and change the colour theme because its the most change I can make hehe :P
Anyway new mobile FA sounds incredible.
..at a reasonable time...
Go to your room, mister. :P
*will wait to see what the changes look like* Such a good user. >_>;
Its been there for a while

I reported it quite a while ago and no one's responded to it or taken it down. Or are screenshots of TV shows okay to submit?
Thanks again! I'll go close my ticket about it now.
Especially if we change fursonas and it would save having to make so many new accounts >.<
exploitreport them formy own benefitFA's sake!Or is there some sort of evil behind it if it gets into our hands on it that I'm not thinking about?
Like a click at teh top of the page to make all 'hidden comments' shown in a 'hidden' block that you can hit to show.
You know how tempermental and unfair people can be.
Kids, this is the free market in action. Now you get to sit back and watch the feature wars kick off.
I've had beta access to Inkbunny before it went live. It's a good site, but this is not some reaction to it, not some retarded "free market in action" cry. We announced the UI update taking place in July/August several times in the past. I did not hop into my DeLorean/TARDIS/Chronojohn, travel back in time, make various posts and updates about our plans, return to the future, then post this journal as some sort of chain reaction of sheer panic.

I've looked around, journals, forum posts, everything. Yes, updates have been in the works since forever, but that's just the problem - hardly any of them were executed. 4 years ago, one of *your* old journals promised an update in a "few months" - and now it's 2010, and the latest activity on the Ferrox subforum indicates that the project is probably dead in the water. If Inkbunny never existed, do you really think you'd stir towards overhauling FA "just because"?
I'm not judging - I work for a bloated corporate that takes EXACTLY the same approach to dealing with the market, and I've been guilty of similar decisions regarding systems I'm responsible for. What I'm trying to point out is that there's a new competitor in the market, and this is exactly the sort of democratic system that drives improvements.
Whether or not you admit it.
You should really just be quiet now. The only point you're making? That you have the ability to fit your WHOLE foot in your mouth.
Do you seeeriously think we've been posting information regarding up-coming updates all this time because of an eventual fear of Inkbunny, but have shrugged off the idea of other sites like SoFurry, Art Spots, Furocity, Blue Taboo, etc.?
Seriously.
Think about the whole of things before you post something like this.
But I'm not gonna leave.
Isn't my logic grand? [/sarcasm]
XD
I'd hate to live in your world
The rule of thumb usually is that you don't speak out against things you like.
Said the pot to the kettle...
Updating a color scheme because of weather =/= FA is posting an update journal just because a new site might out do it.
Really?
YAY! Now I can go all OCD on my drawing! 8D
(I hope I explained that right, I've noticed that when I explain things...I'm not that good in English. ^.=.^")
Hopefully, we'll be able to sort images into multiple folders (so, f'rixample, if I have a Tali pic I drew I can have it it both the "Tali" and "By Me" folders)...
I think I mentioned this to someone before >.>
I'm asking because I watch alot of users I get alot of journals and I sometimes miss important ones cause I get the shitty "BAWWW I'M LEAVIN FA" ones taking up space.
Also, can't wait for registration. My best bud has been trying to join for a few months now but always misses the short lived spurts of when reg. is actually open.
Also..

Either way, can't wait for the mobile edition! Hope it's better than deviantart's! Because that one's buggy as hell
Yay for Commission page working again soon!
Keep it up Neer; I'm looking forward to those folders.
Also, will we still be able to access the site while this update occurs or will the site be down for any length of time?
<3's for you, 'Neer.
I'm 24 now... so...

Dem... so in these case my son, must be 4 times older than me...
Get out there and make me my money!!!

Will the new UI be cheese based?
You see I am worried that if the new UI is cheese based, the website would have a lot of usability problems. First of all, people who are lactose intolerant would feel uncomfortable getting their faces so close to the new website. Secondly, I like cheese a lot so I might unintentionally eat parts of the website--what if I eat a favorite picture and nobody else could see it? Finally, there may be some parts of fa that grow old and spoil, which could make FA stink. as you can see there would be many problems with a cheese-based UI.
Please answer my concerns-- is the new UI cheese-based?
I really can't imagine a scrolling window within the submission page is a bad idea It would contain the story text to keep the important information about the story from being pushed out of view, saddled on top of a wall o text; it can't be that impossible to implement. Writers need better ability to present their work, because many like myself refuse to paste the entire story in the author's main comment box and mangle the page layout. And as lazy as the average user is, leaving them only the download option is probably losing me potential readers. At the same time, that mile long page might drive people off too. I really do beg you to consider this since this issue has been neglected for far too long.
It's used like that on Eka's Portal and is very convenient.
While I'm at it, there is something that has come to my attention that is a bit disconcerting. While there are rules in the AUP covering submissions deemed to target a specific group in a negative manner, I noted there's no clause in the avatars section wording also forbidding that type of content, and as I don't think avatar icons count as submissions, that means a loophole. So while the nudity/blood/gore/etc isn't allowed to be in them, someone could potentially use their avatar to promote a hateful ideas or attempt to advance an agenda that may not be in the best interest of Fur Affinity being run smoothly and drama free via text within the avatar.
I have a specific example I can think of that I came across recently during minor drama in which there were avatars being used to target a group of individuals the FA policies specifically and undeniably allow to use the site, and so I'm curious as to the grounds there are in taking action against it.
so if i were to buy the 6 month add offer for my comic (which i was about to note u asking a few questions about it) would this still apply?
Cause DA allowed the user to be removed from your watchlist when you block them.
Also, in before people that complained about how outdated/shitty FA is now complaining about the interface getting a complete overhaul and they should go back to the old one but will still use FA constantly to peddle their shittily drawn smut.
You know it's going to happen.
I know it's going to happen.
It's only a matter of time.
• When a submission is removed, make sure all of the favorites it got are deleted, too. I hate going into someone's favorites section and seeing "this submission was removed" spaces in there.
• No more "Journal/Submission/etc. was deleted" notifications.
• Provide a download for the update's CSS that has CSS comments telling people what different parts are so they can design custom stylesheets for the site.
I get so tired of looking at those. And of course the "removed by the user" when a watch is removed.
At the very least leave the author/artist's name "Journal/Submission was deleted by BobJoeDoe" or whatnot so that I know who to un-watch.
Also, the ability to choose if I want to watch someone's Journals/Submissions individually, like DA or whatnot. I have folks that I watch that I enjoy looking at the artwork of, but could care less about their Journals.
BTW
do U know why R the register curently closed?
