I'm not going... :(

that's right. I'm not going to Anthrocon... it's too complicated to plan especially since I had never experience any convention before and never traveled like that in years. our aging cars just don't have the strength to travel so far anymore and we even thought about getting a train or flight there as it would be much easier than driving around to find the hotel and the place with a rental car. but it's still too expensive. (and odd that the train is more expensive than flight)
and not only that but having to travel around the city. figuring out how they would drop me off and pick me up from the con. it's all just too frustrating.
and yeah I am pretty disappointed that I am unable to go and I do feel bad about canceling this plan and not able to meet with other furs there. for those who where looking forward to meet with me, I'm real sorry. I do hope I can try again for next year.
buuut. I will definitely plan for furfright. since that's a lot closer and much easier to get too so that will be no problem. :3

oh well I have no idea how I will ever get attending my first con figured out.
1.) Pick the con thats the closest to you geographically, long distances == $$$$. unless your rich and can sink a few thou on a cross country week long furry funfest. (though Id be playing tourist before that as I wanna see more than an overpriced con hotel)
2.) Plan and research cheapest means of getting there ON YOUR OWN (aka bus is a beautiful thing) and dont rely on anyone else unless you get it in writing (this isn't something to bum off mom and dad sadly or family unless you got folks in destination town to stay with and whom are tolerant of the CONtent)
3.) draw budget and plan everything (as much as you can every day of the con) make shure you allow time for things like traffic jams. The more details the smoother the ride and the better the experience. The earlier you plan the better it is. Leave at least a 30% window on unfixed costs (like commission money, merchandise, tourism money or food if you wanna do swanky)
4.) Make shure you know the city your going to and its public transit system (itll be online if there is one there, guaranteed) chances are any half decent con will be well within a transit ride to your "local arrival point" just make sure you plan EVERY route you take because a wrong turn will be your last (literally) Furry cons like to take place in cities with bad raps so this is especially true (of course be safe and not stupid n such)
5.) You ARE in public and in a new place. Make sure you act like you are or you may not find yourself well liked by the locals.....
