apple iOS 4 - it stinks

So, apple released iOS 4, the latest update to their mobile software platform today. And, after plugging my ipod touch in, letting it sit for about four hours, and finally unplugging it again once all the status bars had finished status-barring their way across my screen, I have it installed.
What a waste of an afternoon that was - you see, the one new feature I was actually interested in having, and therefore my primary reason for installing it in the first place, doesn't actually work.
Apple have decided to arbitrarily ban users of the 2ndGen ipod touch from having desktop wallpaper. Why? Because fuck you, that's why.
I can somewhat understand that multitasking is blocked. There may actually be some deep-down hardware-related reason why they've blocked me from using that new feature as well. But there's absolutely no reason for desktop wallpaper to have been blocked, apart from wanting to punish anyone who hasn't slavishly shelled out the wad of cash required for a new unit sometime in the past year.
The fact is, desktop wallpaper has been available on ipod touch, practically since the first unit got jailbroken. You can have it, and it does work. You just can't get it from apple.
This is all about a corporate cash grab, and it's the kind of petty sniveling greed that has been slowly putting me off apple, ever since they lost the rainbow in their logo. Ripping out features, then grabbing for your wallet is becoming a time honored tradition with them.
Congratulations to apple, on their second corporate disaster of the year. I can understand now why they had to give this release away for free.
There's nothing of value here.
I want my four hours back.

My problem is the resolution go adjusted. My sized images are no longer crisp on the display. I don't have the retina display just the original one. How they screwed that up... Hope it get corrected in 4.0.1
But that's my only complaint about it. I find it pretty awesome in all other respects.

...mentioned it. They meant the Sources panel inside Cydillia.
I'm new.
I finally managed to get it installed, only to find it completely screwed up the album art. http://pics.livejournal.com/captpac.....t/pic/00125xz0 (All the albums on the screen are Weird Al, and all but one clearly have the wrong art.)
I've just enabled both the wallpaper and the multitasking on my ipod touch, thanks to the latest jailbreak app. It appears that both features were installed when I updated, but apple used a software switch to disable them. The new jailbreak app gives you the option to re-enable them at the same time as you're installing Cydilla.
Usually, this is the point at which the company is driven, screaming and on fire, into the ground, since it's riding primarily on former successes while having no new ones, name recognition built up from years ago when they were still producing decent output and the ability of human beings to fool themselves into believing that no company that large would ever be capable of doing something so self-destructively stupid, and that there must be a very wise reason for doing what they're doing, which just isn't obvious to "average folks."
The fact that it is the "average folks" who decide what companies live or die somehow never seems to come up, or if it does, only by some malcontent angrily posting it to the internet, which nobody takes seriously anyway.
