How to make The Legend of Queen Opala work under WINE.
Introduction
The Legend of Queen Opala works under newer versions of WINE where the problem with RGSSAD files is fixed.
However, background music still don't work for some reason but it can be fixed by converting the MID files to OGG. The MID files are in the "BGM" folder which is in the "Audio" folder. I found a converter program for Linux, it's simply called "Sound Converter". I converted those files and it worked.
How to convert the background music files by using Sound Conventer:
1. Open Sound Conventer
2. Click "Add folder", browse to your Legend of Queen Opala/audio or Legend of Queen Opala II/audio folder and select "BGM" folder to add.
3. Click "Convert" to convert the files to OGG format.
NOTICE: If you're converting Legend of Queen Opala's music, Sound Converter may crash while converting due to a bad file. If that happens, just start it again and Click "Add file", browse to your Legend of Queen Opala/audio/BGM or Legend of Queen Opala II/audio/BGM folder and add 7-8 files to be converted. Repeat this until it crashes again. Continue it after that but this time select fever files to be converted. As long as it crashes, reduce the amount of selected files by 1 and eventually you'll find out what file causes the crash. You can left that file unconverted or delete it if you want. In my case, there was 2 bad files.
That's all folks! Feel free to ask if you have any questions about this.
UPDATE! Added the guide how to convert the background music.
UPDATE II: Removed the RGSSAD extraction part because RGSSAD files work under newer versions of WINE so it isn't needed anymore.

I'd kept my original saves, so I did the follow:
-Unzipped the new Gold Edition and ran the .exe to get the files
-Ran the RGSSAD - RGSS2A Decrypter
-Put all those files in a Wineskin application (Mac)
-Deleted the RGSSAD file and original .exe (Not GAME.exe of course)
-Ran the two RPG Maker setup files within that Wineskin (Otherwise it wouldn't work)
-Voila! It works.
Now I know what to do from now on if there's an RPG Maker game like this. You've done me a great service, thank you.
cxstart:warning: '/Users/saintjoseph/Desktop/:b:/AP community/Legend of Queen Opala II - Episode I/Legend of Queen Opala II - Episode I/Legend of Queen Opala II/RGSSADRGSS2ADecrypter.exe' contains characters that are not allowed in Windows filenames (*?<>":) so the Windows application may not succeed in opening it
Help?
I bolded the part of the path which causes that error. Rename that folder or move the game to another folder.
The command "/Users/saintjoseph/Desktop/Slave/AP community/Legend of Queen Opala II - Episode I/Legend of Queen Opala II - Episode I/Legend of Queen Opala II/RGSSADRGSS2ADecrypter.exe" returned 53.
Oh this is so silly, curse you CrossOver! Just work right!
I tried to just open the game.exe file and it opened and brought up a blank black screen.
What .dll file?
fixme:mountmgr:harddisk_ioctl Unsupported ioctl 4d004 (device=4 access=3 func=401 method=0)
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x81d3c0,0x00000000), stub!
The error I get when running the command "wine RGSSAD..." is "Call from [ADDR] to unimplemented function msvcp60.dll.??0Init@ios_base@std@@QAE@XZ"
Thanks in advance for any tips on how to fix this!
-Run Directly in Users/(username)/library/application support blah blah
or
-Convert to Simple OSX Application bundle with Wine.
Download latest version of winebottler from here
http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/downloads
Get the development version. (1.8 as of this guide)
Extract game files and run the setup. Only install the rpgmaker xp. We will install updated rtp from official channels.
Get official rtp from here for XP
http://www.rpgmakerweb.com/download.....-time-packages
Run it with wine and install(use first option for ease and speed. You can create wrapper later if you want)
After that, you just run the exe file with wine again.
You can create a wrapper for all rpg maker games by installing all the rtps and versions of rpg maker. This way, whenever you find a new game, just right click, run in 'specific wrapper'.
::I have no idea of the notification system for this website. I'll try to check periodically if you have any questions.
I'm kind of newer to Wine, so I may just be missing something.
I run the RPG maker stuff, running SetupMenu.exe under RPG MAKER XP, which seems to go well. But when I try Game.exe then, the window pops up black for a few seconds, and then I get a fatal error. Winebottler seems to be for Mac, so I can't use that. Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated, any errors I may have missed or any solutions are welcome as well.
