Music for the Soul~ Yes or No?
Hiya all~
This is
fiver16 here apologizing because I haven’t been able to make the music journal for a whole two weeks. My laptop has been acting up very badly and I lost the songs that got requested so I’m going to try and make it up with one of the most powerful songs that I’ve ever heard. In the meantime, I will be searching for the list that was on my desktop. lol
The song that I’ve chose is “Cassie” by Flyleaf.
This is one of the most powerful songs that I’ve ever heard because it’s about it's about a girl named Cassie, which was one of the victims of the Columbine school shootings. She was asked if she believed in God and said yes right before she was murdered. The lead singer of Flyleaf (Lacey Mosely) is saying that we should all follow Cassie's example and stand up for our beliefs even at the risk of death.
~LYRICS~
The question asked in order
To save her life or take it
The answer no to avoid death
The answer yes would make it
Make it
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
All heads are bowed in silence
To remember her last sentence
She answered him knowing what would happen
Her last words still hanging in the air
In the air
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Rachel pulled the trigger
How many will die
I will die
I, I will say yes
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
Say yes to pull the trigger
Do you believe in God
Written on the bullet
And Cassie pulled the trigger
(Do you believe)
Do you believe in God (Do you believe)
Do you believe in God (Do you believe)
Do you believe in God
And I will pull the trigger
~My View on the Song~
My view on the song is that if you do believe in something; you need to embrace it and not hide it away from people. You should be proud of your opinions and your beliefs and not be scared that people will judge you. The question is if you was held hostage for your beliefs of something similar; would you say yes or no?
