What was the longest range you used? In the army we had 300 meter range for assault rifles and 25 meters range for pistols (although most real battle simulations had ranges between ten and fifty meters with small arms)... and I think you had nearer to 25 meters than 300 meters... in most cases well under 25 meters, I reckon. Understandable, though, as you train mostly for self-defense or just shoot for the heck of it.

Also, I'm shocked. Mudge (truly, I don't know how the name is spelled, because I know it phonetically only, and unfortunately your language does not have a phonetic writing system) looks and sounds like an American? I could have never guessed!

And to add: Man, you have the weirdest squatting position. That's nowhere near how we were taught to shoot while kneeling or squatting.

So are you a long-gun or a short-gun man?

A tank-gun man, to be honest. They teach every man to use an assault rifle in the Finnish military, and tank crews train also with pistol, but honestly, if I try to fight against those things I was trained to fight against, that is, main battle tanks, anything less than a tank cannon would be useless.

If I must choose rifles or pistols, I would take a rifle. I was a better shooter with a pistol, but you can't do too much with it. A rifle is much better.

I've always been a short-gun man. A couple handfuls of automatics would see me through the day. Due to a vision problem and being right-handed, I can't sight to fire a long-gun.

We had one guy in the army who was right-handed but whose right eye was almost blind. He had the weirdest shooting positions, he sort of leaned his head over the butt of the rifle to aim. I was a bit worried for him, if there had been malfunction in the rifle, the slide would have come through the back of the rifles top casing and entered his face. Some of our officers said that maybe he should learn to fire on the left side, but he never did that. He wasn't a bad shot, though, he was one of those who got a golden medal from a rifle shooting test. We had to score eleven hits out of twelve shots or better to get the golden medal.

We had a couple guys with very poor eyesight as well, they did okay in combat shooting but not so good in precision shooting.

I didn't have the privilege of serving, but I'm always up for Army stories.

My mum also used to do shooting. But she mainly saved up Energizer Bunnies to use as target practise. She'd line them up and shoot them one by one. It was fun. LOL

If we did this kind of thing, the copper's would probably nick us and Amnesty our guns. ¬.¬
Shooting random crap's still going my Bucket List, though. I just need to learn how to shoot a shotgun. lol
