The species lists aren't being maintained since the intent is to do away with them and let user-specified tags replace their function. It was believed that maintaining the species dropdowns with all possible entries would eventually get so unwieldy that people would stop using them altogether. Also, they cannot accommodate pictures with more than one species present (or hybrid characters).
