Amethyst BouncyBunny's 1st Annual Hallowe'en Art Contest

It's Autumn, and that means that the most wonderful holiday all year is fast approaching! No, I'm not talking about Christmas, though I've seen such items already appearing on store shelves. I'm talking about Hallowe'en! It is my favorite holiday of the year. The smell of woodsmoke in the air, the fallen and colorful leaves, the increasing bite in the breeze. But, most especially, it's that day where people can dress up as pretty much anything and go beg for candy or just have a wild and fun time. And of course, the food. Mmm....caramel apples, cider, chocolate, chocolate and lots of chocolate. *Ahem* I digress...

Now, for the (bloody) meat of this post: I have decided to hold an art contest. First time for me, so we'll see how it goes. Naturally, this will be focused on the mysterious and magical holiday of Hallowe'en. So, here's the deal: I will provide a theme for the art as well as the cash prizes. Art will be judged by  Metamorpher and me. Art will be judged on originality, adherence to the theme and technical skill.

The contest prizes are:
1st Place: $100 US
2nd Place: $60 US
3rd Place: $30 US

These will be payable via PayPal.

Deadline will be Oct. 24, 2010 with winners announced Oct. 30, 2010.

The theme for the contest is:
"Trick-or-Treating Gone Wrong"
"News Flash! Candy Transforming Kids!
Reports are coming in that some candy being handed out to kids is tainted and is having an adverse effect where they are transforming into all kinds of things. Police advise parents to check all candy."

So, there's the theme! Candy is having an effect on kids. Furry, balloon, plant or other transformations are acceptable. Give it some thought, be creative, I think there's quite a lot of material in there. =D How are the kids reacting? The parents? The police?

And lastly, the rules:
1. This is open for original visual art works only. Drawings, paintings. No videos.
2. Content must be within a G to PG-13 rating. There can be some blood or suggestion, but it cannot be gratuitous. Art that exceeds a PG-13 will be disqualified and will be determined at the discretion of the judges.
3. Two entries per person are the maximum accepted.
4. Deadline is October 24, 2010 at midnight Mountain Standard Time. Entries after this will not be accepted.
5. Send a note to me (Amethyst) with a link to the art you are submitting from your gallery and I'll post it here to be displayed.
