Spencer had a completely retarded hissy fit over the pic you did. Check his journals, where I stuck up for you.

I'd advise never doing anything for spencer again, because he's a nasty, ungreatful cunt who things the world revolves around him.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I didn't do it for him, I did it as a commission.

I wasn't even sure he was a person until the buyer told me to link to spencerdragon  spencerdragon in the description.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

The commissioner asked you to draw something that Spencer has said, to great detail, he never wants to see his character be involved in. An admin stepped in and said that, indeed, somebody isn't allowed to have pictures drawn and posted(or draw and post themselves) that has a fursona belonging to somebody else do something they don't want to be involved in without having prior consent first.

The commissioner didn't ask Spencer, and therefore it was removed.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

So why didn't "Spencer" come to me? I didn't even know it belonged to a real person until Gar told me it was for his birthday.

I know for certain that nobody asks Lee Schuneman whenever they want to draw Krystal getting railed in the ass, so what makes this different?

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I'm pretty sure Spencer sent you a couple notes, and he made a comment on the picture asking it to be taken down.

Also, it's not even close to his birthday either. I think you've been used as a means to get Spencer angry.

And if Lee never says anything, or makes any requests to have it removed, then there's not much to be done. However, if Lee ever does say something the admins here at FA will be on his side and will take it down if the artists refuse.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Spencer sent me a couple notes at 5 AM while I was sleeping. By the time I got back from work, there were 30 notes in my inbox and a deletion notice.

If he would've acted like a civilized person and given me a reasonable time to respond, this would've been a brief footnote in history. Nobody would've noticed anything. As it is, though he made a fool out of himself and his friends with his absurdly over the top reaction, and now he's the laughingstock of the entire site.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I will admit he's quick to judge and give up, but actually very little of it was him. About 95% of it was his friends against his "enemies" so to speak.

And his reaction wasn't absurdly over the top. He's very clear on what he doesn't want drawn. This would be similar to somebody coming up to you in real life and punching you in the face then kicking you in the nuts. I don't think getting mad and fighting back would be over the top. But, to Spencer's defense, a lot of it wasn't him

I don't really think that free art equates to assault and battery, sir.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Psychological assault and physical assault are equally damaging. And this wasn't just "free art". It seems it was done for the direct purpose of psychologically assaulting somebody. I really don't see how there's a difference

Drawing someone's character in a situation they don't like is on par with name calling, not emotional trauma, PTSD, or even any kind of harassment that you could sue for.

They aren't very much alike. I don't see how you couldn't spot the differences.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

  It's OK, it's OK

Just breath carefully and it will be OK

PS what the fuck are you doing eating teddy grahams

Are those consentual prey, Shy? ARE THEY? :<

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Sue for? What does this have to do with law? Since when has a furry site had anything to do with a court system?

And name calling has been sued for. Why don't you walk into harlem and call the first african american you see the n word and see what happens. Just because none of you realize the power words have to inspire anger in someone doesn't mean the rest of the world doesn't. "Name calling" as you call it has been on par with throwing the first punch in many court cases.

And there are many type of victims of abuse. Many physical wounds heal. Even those rape victims you speak of suffer most from the psychological effects, not the physical ones. And just as many victims of relationship abuse don't even get physically touched, and yet they suffer just as much.

Now back to the fact that this is FA, not a court of justice, we have to look at the rules of FA. And the rules of FA clearly state that a picture such as this is basically harrassment, and isn't tolerated. Simple as that

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Art, just like almost anything, is a way of communication. Things happen in our minds that we seek to share with others. Sometimes that is with words, other times with actions, and other times with art. Sometimes what we seek to communicate is benign, other times it is something of importance to us, and other times it is something negative. Nearly everything we do is merely a way of communicating to others and therefore place our existence within the grand realm that is life.

Art is often used by political satirists to express their opinions about the way government is acting. Physical actions, such as flag burning, are considered a type of symbolism that communicate a person's distaste for their government, and has also been covered under free speech. These are all merely ways of communicating something to somebody and all get treated the same way.

Now, just like political satirists, art can be used to express something negative. If a person (not just this particular incidient. This is 95% drama. I'm talking about the big picture) requests they not be drawn in a particular way is because to be drawn in such a way communicates something to them they don't like. A rape victim might not be too keen on the idea of been drawn in a rape scene because of how it invokes the same feelings they suffered when the incident actually happened. Now if somebody comes along and knowingly draws a person in a position they requested not to be in it's a way of communicating "I hate your guts and this is what I think of you". This is the same as verbally saying it, or slapping somebody in the face (which, in many ways translates to the same thing. However, actions and symbols are harder to define and that is why most people separate them as separate things altogether, though they are still just ways of communicating something)

Drawing something with the intent of upsetting somebody is just the same as actually saying it to them directly. That is why it is treated as harrassment just the same, and that is why there are rules against it. I work for a corporation that will have people removed from their stores if they use a cuss word against somebody. It's because it is provoking something negative and hurtful. Nearly 99% of businesses will do this. And they will treat any type of physical or symbolic way of communicating such hurtful sentiments just the same. Therefore, FA has rules against it, because they see that to do such a thing is harrassment against somebody, and is therefore not tolerated.

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I think in all that text wang, you really forgot about something very simple.

We're talking about magnitude.

This Politically Correct stuff, always leaves out magnitude to make a point, and in doing so actually destroys the reason for being politically correct.

People do not appreciate comparing higher forms of abuse with ones that are really minor. Your feelings are hurt for different reasons and definitely under a different magnitude.

I'm quite sure many people would appreciate if you noted that difference the next time you came to the defense of someone's feelings being hurt. Many true victims of much worse crimes would greatly appreciate it in fact. Because if you forget magnitude you end up belittling more serious crimes, trying to create an "equal" playing field that isn't there.

  pedrolino

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Art is not communication. Communication can be art, but art itself is not communication.

Art is art.

Someone does not tell me how I can get to my grandmother's house in a painting, and even if they did, it would still be considered art and not a post-it note on the fridge.

PS: A rape victim being drawn in a rape scene is a whole lot different from someone's imaginary character being drawn in someone's mouth. If they're upset about it, that's fine. Shitstorm as occurred: unacceptable. Comparing the guy to a rape victim: entirely uncalled for and insulting to rape victims.

Nemo didn't draw the picture as a slap in the face or cussing somebody out. The outburst by certain parties is regrettable, and comparing a drawing to rape is heinously offensive.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I never made that comparison. And Nemo didn't do anything but draw. I never blamed him for anything.

And you're right, art can be communication, which was my point. It's not always communication, but it can be. And in this case it was a way of communicating something.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

True, I never defended the magnitude of it. I wasn't trying to put them on an equal playing field. If you note I said what happened in particular here was 95% drama. Something happened, there was a moment of overreaction, but it's all passed now. But after all that is said and done, the picture was a blatant attack against somebody, not matter how minor, and was therefore deserving of being removed.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

  Raytlin. Pooky.

You're being pretentious and patronizing.

There is a difference between a drawing and actually punching a person in the mouth. You saying that there isn't, is like trying to argue that black is white.

You not being blocked on this page is not a free ticket to be retarded. Please stop being dumb, or I'll call the E-Swat. Thank you.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

There's no need to be insulting. If you don't agree with me just say so. I don't discuss things so as to prove I'm right and somebody else is wrong. If you feel there's a difference, then that's fine. But I feel there that the differences and similarities aren't as far apart as many seem to think they are.

And if want me to stop talking about things here I'll gladly leave. All you had to do was ask me to stop replying and I would have. It's not my journal after all, and you have a right to protect your space. But don't go around insulting people just because you don't agree with them.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

  I don't agree with you.

I think you are trying to make a point that is silly.

If you make different, not silly points that would be cool.

Also seriously you were being a dick. I have to call them as I see them because when it gets that bad it just turns into bad internet "debate" and that just is too long and boring for my little kidbrain to understand. :<a

  surgat

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

You compared the picture with physical assault, and you can be arrested for physical assault. [You can't with the picture].

If you hit someone over a pic like the one done for Spencer, I guarantee you that -you- would be the one charged with assault.

Now:

Having a fictitious character placed in a situation you don't like is in no way comparable to racism, as it isn't making anyone feel bad about themselves for something morally irrelevant, it isn't about some important, unalterable part of one's identity, it isn't backed up by the threat of force, and it doesn't insult a group of people (a race or ethnicity).

There's no comparison between having a fictitious character placed in a situation you don't like and rape, since the former cannot leave psychological scarring and the latter can cause PTSD. When has something like this (the picture) ever caused someone PTSD?

You disgust me. Your ignorance is surreal; you must have led a very sheltered life to compare having something which doesn't exist drawn in a way you don't like with rape and racism.

  raytlin

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I'm sorry you think my points are silly. I've already admitted to a few that I left out some important facts (which they were keen to mention), which is why my points seem silly. I agree that without all the information they don't make sense. It was my bad.

And if I was being a dick I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be. I can see how you would see that, though. I love to debate things, even to the point that I go through long and complex discussions to make rather simple points. And in doing so I leave out important information (because I can't cover it all without writing a novel on the subjet), and then I look like a dick. It's a personal flaw of mine. I apologise for that to.

My interest in the picture was lost long ago. Nearly all of this had nothing to do with the picture. It's just what I do, especially with sensitive topics. Don't ask why. Family trait I think >.< Anyway, it was my bad and I'm sorry

What happened, FA admins?

Wolfblade took it down because of how much drama it was causing which can be proper warrant.

Silver, I appreciate the professionalism. I had no idea that jpg was carrying a nuclear payload.

Still, I don't think it's very fair that I'm the one who gets punished for the actions of Spencer's little friends. Would some kind of recompense be in order, like me discussing the matter with them in a calm but severe tone? I really don't like the fact that I've got my art on ED because of this.

  hungryjackal

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

  Yeah.

Basically what happened was Spencer complained, which lead to his friends complaining, which led to tons of comments on that one pic, an ED page, an account created specifically for voring Spencer, an FA Forum thread, then an admin stepping in and removing the pic in question.

Even though it was taken down, you still have the money from it. So all is good, I think...

I'd like to think that someone from the Spencer's side of things would view this journal but they're all convinced that you made this image SPECIFICALLY to hurt Spencer. You know, because you HATE Spencer so much and the fact that he has friends really pisses you off. Not that you got paid to do it and are trying to pay for rent or anything.

I was the one that originally reported the image as harassemet. I would like to say I was not directly targetting you, but more at the pffensive remarks Spencer was recieveing by other users. His comment was "Please remove this NOW." along with 4 preferences of his that the picture was breaking. From there, other users began to tell him he had no right to have the picture removed, and was over-reacting. A few of Spencer's friends made the mistake of causing an argument, which is what your 200+ comments would have been. After reporting the submission, I merely waited and watched as the theme of Spencer being devoured began to attract more and more people, and others even began to submit they own copies as if it were some sort of Meme. Spencer has now decided to put it behind him and simply move on, Wolfblade answered my report soon after notes were sent to you and removed the image, along with the other "responses" because they went against the Submission Policy of, in Wolfblade's words, "Drawing someone else's character without their permission engaged in a situation they specifically express a strong dislike for falls well under the realm of "intentional disruption."". Also it seems that the "unnamed commissioner" has revealed himself, though I would have a bit more respect for him had he done it in more of a way to aoplogise for the drama that he caused. He has proved in other comments that he has known Spencer and has had problems with him, and therefore holds a grudge.

To sum it all up, an idea for you may to be to look into things a little more before you crate a commission. That'd likely save alot of hassle next time. If you want any more information, you'd best contact Wolfblade.

  nightfallgeminiimporter

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

hi I read like the first sentence of your message since it's a wall

why didn't you just report the comments then

it's alot easier than deleting an entire picture. just give them the CIDs and they can delete them, or atleast I'd think they could.

  ranger

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I believe the admins made the right choice in deleting the submission itself. The picture itself was also a violation against the sunmission policy, and that would have been removed anyway. Removing just the comments would have only cleared the field for more flaming to unfold.

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

By all appearances, you were commissioned to draw an image that the commissioner knew would cause a negative reaction from Spencer. Specifically asking you to link back to him adds to the appearance that the commissioner wanted the reaction he got.

I apologize for removing the image sooner than the stated timeframe, but the drama was getting well beyond ridiculous.

In general, it can sometimes be a bad idea to accept a commission from someone you don't know asking you to draw a character which does not belong to them. You shouldn't be held at fault for this if you did not know the people involved or the intent the image was to have.

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

There are plenty of people who commission artwork merely for their personal enjoyment and not specifically to piss someone else off.

However, there are enough of the latter to make it prudent for the person offering commissions to be sure they have permission to draw the characters involved.

This isn't about "omg you cant make money" it is about "watch out for people who will have you draw things that cause a shitstorm for YOU so they can harass someone without it hitting THEM."

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Wolf, you're a part time commissioner. Put yourself in my shoes.

You've got a $2300 debt to pay in under a week. Somebody comes up to you, tells you that they'll give you money to draw a particular character, and they give you references. After you're done, they mention that this is actually somebody's character, and it's a birthday drawing because the guy just loves being prey.

Now, do you go out and get permission from the guy, and blow every iota of surprise that your commissioner is paying for, or just quietly post it with a little "happy birthday?"

What would you do in my position?

  ranger

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I for one aren't blaming you for anyting now. I see you were simply caught in the middle of a sneaky, cowardish act by Gar-Yulong. Try not to let it get to you, let Gar attempt to enjoy what he's done. Keep up the drawwing, and hope things are back to normal soon.

  wolfblade

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

That's actually why I don't do surprise pictures. The one time I made an exception, I could clearly see that the two people were friends and talking to each other a lot on the site in a happy and friendly manner. Some people have called me paranoid for that policy, but you're proof of why it makes sense.

I apologize if it sounded like I was blaming you at all, because that was not what I meant. You were used by someone else, and that sucks. I wasn't trying to put fault on you, just offering a suggestion for how to avoid ever getting tricked like this again. It sucks that there are people with so little to do with themselves but set up something retarded like this.

Gar-Yulong's behavior both to you and Spencer was rather pathetic, really, and it is a shame you had to take so much heat for someone else's ass-hattery.

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

In his defense, he did ask nicely. He even said "please." And he also only left one, single comment on that image. It's his "friends" that are the complete assholes; you should be pissed at them, not Spencer. I really don't get why everyone is babbling about someone who only commented once, in a civilized manner.

He also had a very good reason to want the image taken down. Considering the sexual nature of the fetishes involved, a good analogy would be if someone drew your fursona being raped, or whatever you particularly really don't like. I'd be astonished if you didn't at least ask for it to be removed, just like Spencer did. I'm quite glad to see that, while it may not be copyright infringement, drawing someone else's characters in a manner they do not approve of is still against FA rules.

However, you are not the one to blame here. You simply got used as a weapon by some asshole that wanted to hurt Spencer. It is indeed a shame that you were bothered with so much damn drama.

If anything's got an untoward "sexual nature", while it's commonly agreed that inflation is weird, vore is about half a step from cannibalism. The more you know .~*

Quite honestly, I've never seen something so stupid that had to have so much administrative involvement. The site is going to continue to grow, is this really something we want admins being tied up in all the time?

This is really a bad precedent to set when you have more urgent matters to go through. I think it should have been handled privately. It exploded because certain people made it a bigger deal and public.

I can understand death threats, and other kinds of harassment that needs to be dealt with. But this? Use the "What if it were your character excuse" all you want, but that's why I would have handled it privately, because it would have given people the satisfaction by acknowledging that I don't approve.

Instead it was like high school o.O

Had Spencer and his friends IGNORED the picture, not responded and reported it quietly, of course there wouldn't be drama.

Instead it's blame the commissioned o.O;;; While yeah maybe it was commissioned in poor taste, I've just never seen this on other art galleries I've been on and certainly not this explosive.

I can't fault you on this one, you were posting what you thought was a surprise birthday commission.

It was a shitload of furry drama as usual, using you as the medium by the looks of it. ^^() Holy hell, it was epic by the time I got to it this morning.

Aye, I saw it. Bunch of fucktards in places like that, in my opinion. But in this case they pretty much hit the nail on the head. :p

XD thats what you get for not probing for all the information on a commission first?

I am not doing the birthday explanation again.

He gave me all the data I needed for the drawing, and I posted it. The icon link was an afterthought, and I didn't have time to read the omg huge description.

The Drama or when I Googled ED (instead of Encyclopedia Dramatica because I was lazy) and it came back with erectile dysfunction.

It's related because, in your situation, someone got butthurt over art of their character/themselves they didn't approve of, instead of laughing about it and going about their lives -- which is what I said in that journal is the appropriate response to such art. :)

Heavens to Betsy I missed some good stupid while my internet was down. Hope you're financially secure now

My favorite part is the contrast between furry 'professionalism' (fuckin oxymoron?) and the screaming pitchfork crowd.

Good drama would read again B++ arrived not on fire

I remember being angry at you a long time ago for some stupid reason. After this Spencer incident, you are officially my fucking hero.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

Oh I remember that incident. I tore into you for being snarky about me supposedly hating porn and prophecied that one day you would be as horrible and bitter as me.

I no longer believe that anybody will be as bitter as me. I am very bitter.

(No Subject) Posted: 7 years ago

I'm catching up to you. Seriously. I may still love porn, but I hate about 75% of furries these days. The prophecy is coming true.

I aspire to become a torrent of rage and ownage, like you<3

I was such an e-virgin then, susceptible to butthurt and aspergers. I said some very silly things in those days.

The FireFox speaking to you now is hardened and leathery from things like the pain series.

I am too... and you know what the funniest thing about this whole bit of bullshit is? It's that if Spencer, the guy that went batshit because for one moment the world wasn't revolving around him, did not just go "Haha, very funny" and LEAVE IT AT THAT.

So retarded. TAKE A FUCKING JOKE, YOU DUMBASS!

Ooookay, lemme see if I got this straight...

Someone pays YOU money to draw a picture. You draw picture. You get money, pay bills, purchase ramen, eat and go to bed.

You wake up to a giant shit storm that's parked itself over your head, full of people giving you grief, complaining, pulling your art and generally acting like a bunch of retards on acid and meth.

*scratches his head*

I'm a little slow...can you explain to me in terms that a 5-year old can understand, just WHY your head hasn't exploded yet?

I dont agree with the drama that ensued but I done like him being called a cunt or bitch just cuz he spoke his mind... This is what the Haters want! If we fight ourselves, they get to sit back and laugh! God damn... this is going the same way as DragonMorph did...

P.S. I dont care If this is a late post. Don't remind me.

  nemo

(No Subject) Posted: 6 years ago

  Only late by 6 months.

There are no Haters, especially not capitalized as a proper noun. Lord Satan, King of Hell who is the Enemy of Man, called the Dragon of Saint Peter's Revelation, now that is a capitalized proper noun.

I have no idea who DragonMorph is.

I've already done my community service.

You appear to have just missed the party entirely, haven't you?

Oh crap, I just read the ED article about this, from that "Never Prey" submission. I would likely lay someone out if any of my art ever ended up in that shithole.

Why does everyone assume you know, or have some personal agenda against this guy who obviously believes way too strongly that the internet is "serious business". You're just the artist, and an awesome one at that.

I might just start saying 100% PREY!!!10101! after seeing all this just for the hell of it. Anyone attached enough to their fursona that they start WWIII over being a pred in a picture, obviously has a few issues.

The fact that someone basically tricked you into this makes me sick, and all this drama that I'm obviously slightly late to notice makes me ashamed to be a fur.

I have loads of respect for you and your art now, and am definitely a fan. And if I ever happen to cross paths with Spencer, I'll probably eat him.
