Life is an adventure

You have to keep a little crazy hidden away in your back pocket just to maintain your sanity.

Normally I don't share 'life' information openly, but in this I hope there is encouragement for those furs younger than myself in what I am to say.
The older you get, the more of a time span you have to look back upon and understand that you had little to no control on the series of events you will see staring back at you.
I have been a bit quiet lately. Nothing to fear - it was just life. Finding myself unemployed back in June, and going through many interviews with no call backs; I found myself at the mercy of the economy and did what I had to do in order to make ends meet - took a job way far away from home. In this, I will remember my Grandfather who lived through the Great Depression, and always advised me - 'You pick yourself up by your bootstraps and keep on marching.'
My present work day is ten hours and most of my writing has been done during a 30 minute lunch break - thank goodness for a laptop.
I did make it home for the weekends, which was when I had to take care of the household things missed during the week.
Then too, there is the project I have been working on, a story entitled 'Maude'.
It has been a long time since I have been this 'on fire' over a project; which, I will add, is a group project. The story began with a picture done by
panhesekielshiroi and centers around the 1931 Cleveland Air Races. Believe it or not - it is a love story. Research has been intense and very satisfying as my mind has (once again) been allowed to live in a time before my own.

dolphinboy and
randomonlooker are actually composing a soundtrack for the story - so - what you will have is a movie in your mind.
And then came the job offer from out of the blue. That's the way my life has always worked. On top of this, I interviewed for the one and then ended up with another - which is closer to home. In this, I can only say, 'God is good'. He gave me Vixyy when I needed her, he gave me the wonderful ability to write, and he has given me the numerous jobs I have had over a long career.
To you furs having a hard time of life - don't give up. Pull yourselves up by your bootstraps and keep on marching.
It's what you have to do.

10 hour days? Half hour lunch? Isn't that illegal? I don't know about where you live, but Nebraska state law mandates an hour lunch break if you work 8 hours or more, as well as two 15-minute breaks. But I guess a lot of employers are taking advantage of peoples' desperation.

i hope i can come through for you and everyone else involved ;) thank you for your vote of confidence

On the subject of doing what you have had to, when i couldn't find work I became quite the adept scavenger, made what I needed and repaired almost anything to get by, i traded with others for food and on occasion managed to get a lot of freebees here and there. The survivors are the ones like yourself who no matter what is chucked at them keep on going.
*many hugs*
*giggles and hugs her again... you are a real survivor Yelleena...

When he left that night, I was talking with him about his plans, and asking him if he was sure he was ready to go. He told me "Everything always works out somehow in the end. Sometimes you've just gotta give a little more."
He found two jobs after moving down there to keep himself running, finished up his glasses, met up with his girlfriend (a long-distance relationship, and they fell in love all over again when they met in-person), and got enough money together to come back home after a nice stay for classes.
Funny thing is, after 2 months of searching for a job, he was starting to get worried that he wouldn't find one in time to keep himself afloat. Just when he thought he was out of options, I ran into my friend's mother at work. She's one of the midnight managers, and told me they were understaffed.
A week later he had a job, and now he's saving up to move back down to Kentucky. This time to stay.
Everything always works out, as long as you're willing to give enough to get you through.
Best of luck, Vixyy, and be sure to stay warm with the cold weather on its way <3!

I have had similar experiences over the last few years. Taking the 10 hour contract job just to get some hours and OT pay, which was not close to home. Working a 6 days a week 12 hour job, even though I had a new girlfriend who lived over an hour away (and I still managed to see her). I even managed like you to do some writing on my lunch breaks. Sure it makes getting stories done take a lot longer, but at least I am writing. :)
Hopefully, my lot will be pulled from the bag soon enough and I can get a stable job. That would allow me to set aside time for both my girl and my writing, and hopefully manage to pay all the bills in the process hehe.
The project you are working on sounds quite wonderful. How did you all manage to get hooked up and get the collaboration rolling? I have often thought of working with another writer, but I just don't know how to get something like that started.
things just happened... I found Pan's picture quite by accident and it spoke to me. I then had an idea that I shared with a few friends and forward we went. Mostly I would suggest simply not being afraid to try.
*big hugs....

I've had so many experiences where I found myself waiting and waiting. I was looking for a job since June of this year and finally got one just last week. I finished the orientation on my birthday (yesterday) and realized how much the job was a birthday gift from God after almost five months of nothing (through 30 job opportunities, no less).
You're such an incredible and blessed writer, Vixyy. I can only imagine what amazing tales you'll create years from now, God-willing.
I found some soft music a few days back. Thought I'd share it with you for inspiration:

It sounds like the stars are humming a soft melody, hanging in the heavens.
I love the beginning, the calming middle and the sweet end.

I don't know if I've even told you .... I appreciate it, but I also -deeply- envy your positive attitude. Things work out, but for me it is more a function of finally snapping and being entirely too pissed off and stubborn to quit.
*raises glass* A toast, then, to working with a slightly smaller hammer. L'chaim. *clink*

And coincidentally, it's exactly what I needed when I needed it.
Thank you for posting it, and I hope your life continues to be full of wonder and serendipity.
