Tokyo Healthy Unreality Adolescents Education Regulation
15 years ago
OK, first, here's the original regulation:
http://www.reiki.metro.tokyo.jp/rei.....012150001.html
And here's the news about it:

Let me explain what this regulation is generally:
1.To create a healthy environment for adolescents, Tokyo residents must avoid under age sexual or homosexual information, and have to keep adolescents from these kinds of information.
2.In Tokyo, publish, broadcast or create under age sexual or homosexual information is not acceptable, and it is illegal.
3.If the characters look like under age, or their dressing, the surroundings make them look like under age, they will be identified as unreality under age characters.
4.In Tokyo, there can't be any sexual, violent, homosexual, immoral, ect., expression about adolescents in publications or Mass Media.
5.In Tokyo, animations and comics are ruled by this regulation.
6.This regulation especially aims at unreality creations, because these kinds of information are more influential to adolescents.
The autocratic and prejudiced regulation is moved by Tokyo president, Ishihara Shintarou,
and the regulation has been approved in Liberal Democratic Party.
Needless to say, the comics and animations industry will be extremely defeated if the regulation was approved in Tokyo parliament.
What are they thinking?
Now, Kadokawa, Kodansha, Shogakukan, Kodansha, Shueisha, ect., the ten biggist publishing houses have seriously declare that they will not participate or assist the Tokyo Animation Festival 2011 anything, and they will oppose the regulation strongly.
This regulation is ridiculous and prejudiced to comics, animations and homosexual!
Ishihara Shintarou said that the homosexual is "a unfortunatly congenital defect",
and he can't understand why it is legal to broadcast the information about homosexual.
This is a declaration of war to shotacon, lolicon, homosexual and creators in not only Tokyo but the whole world.
Fuck you, Ishihara Shintarou!

I feel sorry for you Danboya D:. That's a really unfair thing for a government to pull. And here I thought our government where assholes for not legalizing gay marriage in Australia O.o
I hope these prejudices will all be disappear someday.
I don't think that day will come in a short time,
but this regulation is a initiative offense, unfortunatly.
And yeah the regulation is an offense to all of us, but its government there's only so much the public can do to oppose the government, aside from the worst and trying to take over government by violent force, which is never a good ending.
but if it is passed in Tokyo parliament, it will be a actual regulation.
I agree, this is very offensive too. :( It breaches personal decisions and opinions.
this is the most ridiculous policy I've ever seen.
Government officials. No matter where they are in the world, they're always hopelessly out of touch with people within their country that are different from them.
I mean, I'm not a huge fan of shotacon and lolicon really (the porn at least), but for the government to just step in and say "No more of this" just because is just plain wrong.
The question that comes up in my mind is "isn't the age of consent like, 13 or 14 in Japan?". Or has that changed?
My next question is "is it just the sexual or otherwise explicit stuff, or is it the genres as a whole?".
but obviously this is consented by several old men who were still living in last century.
The answer is, the standard in the regulation is very indistinct,
so the government can explain and use it in the way which is advantageous to them.
And some people thought parts of Europe were ridiculous for banning cub porn. This is way more ridiculous.
I'm not super familiar with the political outlooks of Japanese society at large, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but isn't this kind of out of character for them? I thought of all things, Japan really didn't give a damn about Shota/Loli/whathaveyou
I know their "Liberal Democratic Party" is supposed to be very conservative, though. But what would possess them to do this exactly?
Will probably research this later. But it's censorship, and as such, fucking retarded.
but fortunately it was not passed.
The debate of Otaku Culture has been discussed several times,
this is a very ideal political tool for politicians.
To criticize and attack Otaku Culture always can obtain the supports of conservatives.
But I don't know why the regulation is so sudden, either.
But it does interest me though, and something like this can affect a large part of the internet.
Do conservative politicians in Japan have a poor outlook for Otaku Culture then?
And in what sense do you use the word "Otaku" here? I've never heard anyone talk about an "Otaku Culture" before so please forgive me if these questions seem strange.
Here's the definition of Otaku on Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otaku
It's much clearer than that I explain by myself XD
Otaku Culture is a vey complex composition,
but all the things in it or associated with it are based on the interests and faiths of Otaku.
I don't like political things, too. But Taiwan is a political country, I always have to put myself into it >_<
Not only politicians, conservative Japanese have had a poor outlook for Otaku Culture since Tsutomu Miyazaki Event(1988)(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsutomu_Miyazaki). But actually the whole thing didn't concern with Otaku Culture,
it was a very serious misunderstanding, then became a prejudice.
So, the Japan society isn't very friendly to Otaku and these kind of creators or things.
I'm somewhat familiar with what an Otaku is, I just wasn't sure what way you were using the word. It doesn't mean quite the same thing over here in the west.
But I can see how this could be the case. It's very ignorant and depressing. But the main reason I don't like politics is because of how you have to talk down an ignorant majority.
I do not like censorship of any kind, especially regarding homosexuality. I think it does no good to anyone, and I hope this turns out for the best.
I mean... Why? People are still gonna find what they want and look at it, draw it, make it, read it, ect. with it even though its illegal.
How unfortunate
~Ronald Ernest "Ron" Paul~
So yeah, fuck the stupid conservative politicians and those ignorant PTA groups. Kids today are far more smart than you can (also, are willing to) imagine, so why don't you mind the important business like econimics or poblic health probelm and just leave the ACG industry alone. This is fucked up.
The overly pampered, overly protected youth of the up-n-coming generation is being dumbed down on a mass scale so that they won't be able to fight propositions like these.
I personally think it's tied in with the whole budget-cuts with schools, yet our president spends hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly a jet 8 miles. But that's another story.
The good news is our generation is clearly supportive of gay rights and gay marriages. Thankfully, it's evident when tv show hosts make a comment in support of gay people and the audience cheers.
Newsflash to the government, if the masses openly cheer on public television for gay rights, and boo/hiss at those who wish to oppose it or call it a sin, it means we're winning.
Suck it, government.
(PS sorry for posting all that in a reply to a reply lol)
I am in utter disbelief that they would completely try to ban homosexuality in media all together!
Why is love so wrong? I wish the governments would stop trying to control its people "for their own good" on this topic.
THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *Kick*
