FA, give me an animal
I've got a hypothesis...and I'm gonna use you guys to test it out.
Everyone knows FA is rife with porn, and if you ain't gonna use porn to sell yourself then fanart works almost as well (better even, on DA). Another way is becoming well known for drawing a particular species either better or more consistently than other people so you're known as "the horse guy" or "the dinosaur artist".
But what about variety? Can you get known for variety? Can you attract different chunks of different demographics on DA by drawing different kinds of animals all the time? Will they then continue to watch you, wondering what kind of creature you'll upload next, or will they move on when their favorite animal doesn't reappear again?
I posit this after noticing that the more bird-related art I uploaded, the more bird folks commented and watched me. Previously it was mostly the fox/wolf/canine crowd that commented. And on DA it's pretty much only canine-fans among animal lovers that watch my stuff.
So I'd like everyone to indulge me in a little experiment. I want the people here to suggest any kind of animal (so long as you didn't invent it and it's not some non-mythological hybrid) and I'll upload a picture of one of the suggestions I've received each day or every other day. Maybe multiple ones in one day depending on my mood or schedule.
Every upload I'll take new suggestions or choose from the old ones I received. So suggest away, FA. This oughta be fun for the both of us.

Vampire teefy deer are love.
:D
although it *would* be interesting to see 'em in an anthro formatting....hrmmm.
Or a ringtail, those are always cute.
I have also always wanted to see a yak
Praying Mantis
anything you find worth while...
or shoot for an armadillo
I HATE those things. They're so weird ;;
poison dart frog. :D or bullfrog.
Fossa!
Barring that, Coelacanth. Fish need love, too.
Archeopteryx
Corded Poodle
Goblin Shark (creepy suckers but such an interesting animal!)
This is an interesting test and I'm curious to see how things turn out. :3
Goblin shark
Tasmanian devil
Pangolin
Yellow Bellied Sapsucker!
platypus
chambered nautilus
gulper eel
other weird nightmare inducing fish that live on the ocean floor
If that's too humanoid, make it more beast-like!
Oh and I just want to say I watched you before you drew birds because your art is amazing - you drawing birds was just a huge plus for me xD
(I especially like the one sixth from the left: "Bornella anguilla flees danger by folding in its appendages and swimming like an eel." As do I, as do I.)
Also, oof, just realised I typed the name wrong in my initial post. Oops.
Here's the wiki page.
I quite like spiders though :} I can't have any, so I like looking at other peoples' here on FA. Vera has some really cool pets!
Hrm... Mandarin Ducks seem fairly interesting... http://www.avianweb.com/images/bird.....derinmale4.jpg
Psychedelic Frogfish
Thylacine
Irish Elk
Protoceras
Pakicetid (The possible missing link between dolphins/whales and land mammals)
Don't get too caught up in drawing exotic animals, not everyone is into those. For instance, try kangaroos. They are awesome and immediately you get dozens of people with kangaroo icons waiting to see if you draw any more.
Elk
Reindeer
In that same vein: salamander, newt, and possibly a skink or some other lizard for some reptile inputs.
I also would get a kick out of seeing a wallaby of some type, cause they're pretty awesome.
Sounds like an interesting plan, looking forward to see what shows.
mudkip?Mudpuppies? :D They are super cute! Iwas so sad when I caught one while fishing once. ;n;
And yeah, when I played POKEYMANZ I always picked the water starter, so I did have a Mudkip. Water starters FTW!
I SWEAR IT WAS A MUDPUPPY. it was HUGE, and pinky colored. maybe a 'siren'?? i dunnos. <3
POKYMANS <3
Also, woot on the pokeyman affection we share.
LIKE FISH.
I don't really see many fish... and when I do, they tend not to be very.. FISHY, at least not in the face.
SO I am suggesting a Butterfly fish of some sort. These guys are pretty neat looking!
Or one of these, just because.

Reindeer
phidippus audax :>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thelyphonida Here are more facts / pics :D

And Honey Badger
Raccoon
Spectacled Bear
Puffin
Any of the varieties of penguins
Anole
Turtle
Anteater
Okapi
Opossum
Or, if you're feeling especially adventurous, water-bear/tardigrade!
Clouded Leopard - markings = love
Chital (or Red if you prefer) Deer - a stag definatly, quite regal looking
Indian Muntjac - they don't look like much, but they are very cuddly creatures (their tongues feel like velvet) ^^
Kangaroo Rat (or Jerboa) - similar species
Quokka - also very cute but underestimated species (only found on Rottnest Island and few places in W.Australia)
Sabertooth cat - if you don't mind drawing extinct species
coatis
tamanduas
tree kangaroo
bush dog
stoats
palm civet
or
Angry mutant titmouse.
And that's what's great!
Swan Goose
Silver Seabright Chicken
Hedgehog!
Hermit Crab?
Gorilla
Vervet Monkey
Orangutan
Grebe
Go-Away-Bird
Brown Hyena (rarely painted in favour of it's more famous cousin)
Eland
Bongo
Gerenuk
Dormouse
Baboon
A whole series on Birds of Paradise.

Kakapo (who doesn't love a fat green owl parrot?)
Sun bittern (seriously, beautiful little birds)
Bali starling
Kagu
Bohemian waxwing
Winter wren

Palawan peacock pheasant
Thick-billed raven
Pacific parrotlet (most adorable bird on the planet seriously)
Augur buzzard
Gymnogene
Basilisk lizard (aka Jesus Lizard)
Deep sea jellyfish (I can't name specific species but they are beautiful)
Golden orb weaver spiders
Black-necked and red-crowned cranes
Fairy penguin
Nene
Aaahm I'll leave it there because you asked for maybe one or two and not a frillion D:
http://www.chicagowildernessmag.org.....ographers.html
Although a Hippocampus would also be cool.
Barn Swallow
Horses (especially the fine boned breeds like Arabian)
Sharks
Deer species with intricate antlers (Fallow deer are a good example)
Large Water birds (Swans, Herons, Cranes, Pelicans)
and sighthound domestic dogs (Greyhounds, Salukis, Borzoi, ect.)
Another way to look at challenges to draw, are just plain ODD things... such as:
Things that are 90% fluff (Alpaca, Angora Rabbits, Tiny owls)
"ugly" things ( Barn Owllettes, Elephant Seal, Star-nosed Mole)
Things that you're not even sure are really ANIMALS ( Starfish, Jellyfish, Walking Sticks)
Things you think others are just making up/are birth defects but are not (Long-eared Jerboa, Narwhal, Platypus, Coconut crabs, Mouse Deer)
OR, you could just draw things in your own backyard:
Redbreasted Robin
Starling
Whitetail deer
Fox Squirell
Racoon
Eastern Cottontail
Bullfrog
Ladybird Beetle (Ladybug)
Black Ant
Feild Mouse
Sea urchin
Japanese marten
Capuchin
Moray eel
Sea snake
By the way -- grand idea -- I like the concept, and it's definitely something a lot of people need to try (I've been trying to have more variety into my art diet as of late, but with so many people requesting for canines in trades/commissions/etc. it does make it difficult to branch out sometimes -- I'm sure you know the feeling all too well ]: )

It also has its own own Facebook page!
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=159231732195
Also, Giant Gambian Pouched Rat! They can detect landmines! They can deter tuberculosis quicker and more accurately than a lab tech! They're cat sized!
They also have a facebook page:

I have some odd favorites.
Corn snakes, maybe with one of the color variations to help it stand out? x3
Hoopoe
Shetland cow
