Hi!
Ok, now that stuff at home is getting back to some normality...
For those fursuit builders...here is my challenge for you.
Could you build a fursuit (full) of my fursona?
Please respond to this journal...don't note me and I'm not asking for prices at this time.
As usual...if you know any suit builders Please link them to here.

I know the key a lot of fursuits is the head and the most time consuming, mine is no different. But also my tail is going to be the challenge, because how huge it will be.
Some Details...
RL... Height: 6'-4" tall
Weight: 240lbs but planning to dump the 40 lbs off...which I need to do.
Hands: Large
Feet 13 EEE
Other: Wear glasses, I can not wear contacts...eyes sensitive to contacts.
Fursuit details:
Head: Like to have it as close as possible to my fursona, A more realistic head.
Eyes: Realistic eyes, maybe made out of glass or have prescription lens made then colored.
Head Hair: Long and goes down to where the tail and the base of the spine meets.
Body: Muscular details shown
Paws: Realistic...be cool if they had retractable claws.
Tail: (the fun part) off the waist, then comes down to about 6" from the floor, then curve and goes straight up 18-24" past my head, the comes back down to the middle of the back. the tail is tapered and the widest part goes a foot past the shoulders. And it's about a foot thick. It has to be flexible enough to get through doors and to be movable.
If your going to Jan. PS meet, which I'll be there, we can discuss it more there. Just be early for the sandwiches...they go FAST!
I would love to here your input on this.

I realize Blitz has offered to take it on, but could you please also consider me? Go nose through my gallery- look for the various tails I've made,
I go to the PS almost every month, and I'm usually easy enough to find: I like hanging out back to watch the suiters (and cool off- SoCal weather is hot for this Arctic dragoness), or I'm in the living-room area with my mate, watching whatever cool movie happens to be playing.
Head: Like to have it as close as possible to my fursona, A more realistic head.:
Realism is fascinating and fun to work on- I'll do my best. Do you mean realistic as in like a real skunk? or realistic in the sense of a less "toony" style?
Eyes: Realistic eyes, maybe made out of glass or have prescription lens made then colored.: Prescription lenses in the head itself would be difficult at best, insane-making at worst. I might suggest going for "duct-sight" instead, with room in the head for your glasses. The head's eyes will be glass taxidermy eyes, bought already painted- probably lion eyes, as they look the closest to your character's eye colour. I also happen to have a pair in my stuff.
Head Hair: Long and goes down to where the tail and the base of the spine meets.: I know a place where I can get some sweet krylon wigs up to 40 inches long.
Body: Muscular details shown: muscle suit, or trapunto work on the belly. Careful fur-shaving will enhance the effect, too.
Paws: Realistic...be cool if they had retractable claws.: Hmm, retractable claws might not be possible with my current skills. Hand-hugging paws with a nice animal look to them, I think I can do.
Tail: (the fun part) off the waist, then comes down to about 6" from the floor, then curve and goes straight up 18-24" past my head, the comes back down to the middle of the back. the tail is tapered and the widest part goes a foot past the shoulders. OK, there's going to be some serious head-sweat over the design. Remember that "gravity sucks" and physics is unbeatable. Also consider your anatomy and how you personally move: you are going to have an effective "thickness" over twice your norm, front to back, along the full length of your body (the doubled-up portion of tail)- you won't be able to sit in this costume the way you describe it (at the very least, it will be rather difficult). In order to have enough room for your legs to move in front of and under your tail, it's going to angle out a fair bit away from your legs to free them up for movement. Otherwise, your calves will be constantly bumping into the tail as you walk, stressing the attachment-points of the tail. A two-foot rise of tail over your head will mean you are effectively eight feet tall- most doors are seven. Be prepared to be ducking a lot, or risk your tail being further stressed at it's base by constantly pulling it through doorways.
Some compromises will have to be made to give you the glorious tail you want and the freedom of movement you'll need- this is the reality of making complicated costuming. Comfort in your suit is as important as the construction for the character it represents. You want to have fun in this guy, right?
My suggestions for your tail:
-attached at the base of your spine or at your belt-line, much as you describe.
-the first curve upward beginning at your knees, rather than at your ankles, to give your legs room to swing, and room for you to sit on the edges of a chair.
- perhaps reconsider having it be so tall, if only because getting through doorways will be a pain after a while!
Remember that your tail isn't part of your body- it doesn't have the natural swing and ease of moving it out of the way a real tail would have, so it's going to be more static and stiff, even if it's made of a squishy material... I'm thinking of trying a hollow shell made of flexible mesh, "skinned" with a thin layer of foam (for lightness), then furred with a long-pile fur (either the three inch pile of some of the furs I can find in LA's Fashion District- they're usually sparkly, though- or a special order from National Fiber Tech. They make their own fabric, with the pile at any length you want, but it's frighteningly expensive- something on the order of $35 a square foot). Fur does weigh a fair bit, so there may have to be some sort of rod system inside to make it stand up (thus the delrin- it's basically thin plastic rod that can be heated and shaped- once it cools, it keeps the shape you've set it in, has some springy bounce to it, and is durable).
I saw a skunk suit at FC this weekend during the Fursuit Parade, and they had a lovely, full-standing tail that went from their butt to just over the top of their head. I wanted to get close and feel that tail to see how it was made, but I was behind my Dealer's Den table, and couldn't check him out. It stood up very nicely, no flopping at all. I'm seriously thinking a framework with either a firm, hollow mesh or delrin rod with a bit of foam for shaping- it moved like it was very light... If that's the case, that's likely the best method of building it.
TL;DR- I'd love to take it on to stretch my skills. We could discuss it at the PS this weekend, as I'll be there. Just look for the short, bespectacled, pudgy girl with the dragon tail (or the big rat tail- I sometimes like coming wearing Mona Ratt) and pink hair. If you and
It would be awesome.
and the "skin" needs to be able to be easily taken off in case the inflatable needs patching, and you need to have the blow up tube easy to accesss to inflate and deflate especailly esepcially if you get a small hole that requires you to pump of the tail every few hours (I used a blow up chilipepper in arcanine's tail, it has a slow leak but lasts for several hours before you notice it is deflating)
otherwise you are talking about a tail that would be like transporting and storing a person, and it would weigh like 50 pounds (stuffing and foam is light but on that scale it will be heavy)
However, I would of made the tail with an inflatable insert.
Best of luck!!
And if it does come down to that...I'll give you a buzz.
