Hi and welcome to Art Jam Magazine (AJM) introduction page.
>Words from the author.
Hi guys, the name's Taoren. Some of you may, or may not know me, but bottomline - it doesn't matter. Because this isn't about me, it's more about YOU. I have been around the fandom for long enough to see it grow and expand. FurAffinity houses all kinds of people, all kinds of artists, with all kinds of styles, ideas, tastes. The fandom today is much much different than it was when i started being an anthro artist. Back then things were much simpler, less people, and it was way more innocent and "underground" than it is now. The community's spirit has changed and became an even greater chaos. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but lately in the past year or two, there has been a huge decline in some sort of a unity that we had, and mutual admiration.
So i thought, maybe these art jams would be a way to bring us together, and communicate not through words, tweets, online games, but to communicate with the language closest and maybe most personal to us - art.
I don't know about you but lately, there are no more trades without someone trying to scam you or bitch about details while getting free art, no more collaborations between artists, no more understanding and laughter. Lately all that is left are just words, in these halls without music. FA is our home, and we should fill it with love and music. And i am sure I am not the only one that feels this.
Hopefully these art jams will get people together just like in the old days. These art jams will have no barriers, you won't have to talk, send embarrassing notes to people you admire to have your art stand next to theirs, they will be a way to express yourself in your unique way, and showcase your skills and idea with everyone else, all in one place.
>The mission.
AJM is a small community project i came up with, that will host art jams. The purpose of these art jams is to motivate and inspire people of our fandom to get together to create and share their art with their fellow artists. But mostly, its about fun, sharing and that feeling that we did something that matters.
>We have tried this before and it failed. What makes THESE Art Jam sessions so different from the rest.
The presentation. Other art jams had a problem of how to present everyone's art jam pieces in one place. Usually they were a pile of links and usernames, and it took hours to browse through them all and lots and lots of clicking, page loading and it was just not practical enough.
That is why i came up with a form of a flash magazine, where people will be able to load one file and view all of the submissions in one place, that will, if needed, be linked to the original pieces.
Also a huge factor that is that, this project requires community's feedback and input. My own involvement is participating in art jams, and pasting the submissions together to make the magazine, but the real director/leader of it is the community itself, through voting and suggestions.
>How often will these jams take place.
I'm thinking on a weekly base. 7 days is more than enough for someone to draw something with enough quality that will satisfy a community art project.
>I don't want to participate on something Taoren created.
I am sorry to hear that. But as i mentioned above, this isn't about me, it's more about you. You are free to submit your art jam piece regardless of your feelings for me, and it will be treated like anyone else's. That IS the purpose of this project - to share, enjoy and have fun. You're not doing it for me, you're doing it for yourself, or even a friend. All i do is paste them all together, and i don't claim ownership of your art, nor will i judge anyone willing to participate in art jams. In any case, if you don't want to be in the magazine among everyone else, just don't note/email me with your piece and it won't be added. But you'll be missing out a lot.
>Do i need to be of certain age to participate?
There is no age restriction in general, but if the community decides the theme should be adult themed, then i can't do anything but to restrict participants to be of age 18+. FA and the huge aspect of the furry fandom is porn, so i expect lots of these art jams will be pornographic, depending on the artists that participate in the jam and how they illustrate/respond the theme that was given.
Why should i participate in this?
