Commission TOS & Waiting List (Update!)
PLUSHIE COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED!
Commissions for accessories (device cases/sleeves, scarves, etc.) are open!
Please contact me to be put on the waiting list for plushies!
Here are some updated commission terms and conditions as well as a listing of my current queue and some waiting list information. This is the infinitive, authoritative list. I expect all commissioners to have read this and therefore they are subject to these terms & conditions.
What are you paying for?
A custom, hand-made crocheted stuffed animal toy, made of high-quality materials (special materials may differ depending upon request). I generally use an acrylic yarn, which works best for amigurumi (basically, crocheted toys made in the round) as it's tighter & stiffer - and thus holds shape better.
However, when appropriate, other types of yarn may be used - wool, bamboo, cotton, other varieties of synthetic yarn, etc. Generally it will be an acrylic blend, but nearly any variety of yarn may be specifically requested by the commissioner if they have a preference. As long as it is obtainable and is suitable to the project it may be used. Price may increase or decrease depending upon yarn type, quality and quantity.
I'm currently weeding out shit-yarn that I bought a million years ago (read: Red Heart) and used to use on commissions due to price and ease of availability, but I can't take it anymore. It's terrible. Unless you request a color that I simply cannot find in any other yarn, I will typically use Lion Brand for my acrylic commissions and a variety of different alpaca & wool yarns for as much as I possibly can because <3.
When do I pay?
For orders $30 and under, all money must be paid up-front and immediately upon being put into the queue. Until you have paid fully, you will be put onto a waiting list and others who have paid in full (even if requested after you) will be moved ahead of you in line.
For orders over $30, a 50% deposit may be made to be put on the queue and moved up the line in order of commission. When I come to your project, I will not begin work until the order is completely paid off. No exceptions.
Shipping charges are not included in the price of the commission and will differ depending on location of commissioner as well as size and weight of the finished project.
When do I get the plushie?
Ideally, you should pay in full when the commission request is made. However, if you are ordering something large & expensive, you are more than welcome to pay a deposit. A deposit is equal to half the total cost of the plushie (not including shipping.) A deposit is non-refundable (this prevents people from clogging up the queue if they’re not really sure whether or not they actually want the plushie and just don’t feel like waiting like everyone else) and allows you to secure a place in line (which gets quite long!) even if you are not able to pay the entire cost immediately. Once I get to your order, if you have not completed paying for your item, I will contact you and ask you to pay the balance. If you are not able to or do not reply after 48 hours, you will be skipped in favor of the person in line behind you. This skipping will continue until the item is paid off.
In the past I have been really lenient in letting people off the hook for their deposits on canceled commissions, but in the future I most likely will not be unless really compelling reasons are given for your cancellation ("changing your mind" is not good enough -- monetary emergencies with family, losing jobs, etc., are. I understand things come up and I want to be fair, so please just let me know.)
Impatience is also not a good reason to cancel. If you have concerns about how long a project has taken to complete, please let me know directly and we will figure something out. I am willing to account for my own shortcomings, so if you do feel I have been unfair in my estimation of the completion of your project please let me know as it will help you and help me when dealing with future commissioners. :]
I have been backed up for a while now and I'm currently working on getting things under control. I've been pretty productive lately and I expect to open up new plushie commission slots sometime in April 2011.
Deadlines:
Unless a deadline is totally unreasonable (or I am too busy at the time) I am usually more than willing to meet deadlines. Please ask for more details if you need your commission by a certain date (birthday, holiday, con, etc.)
Small caveat about deadlines: If your deadline falls within a certain bracket of time (which changes depending on how long my commission list is, but is generally within a month) you may be charged a rush-fee. A rush-fee is 35% of the total cost of your plushie ($100 order? Add $35 to rush it! $20 dollar order? Add $7!) This prevents people from abusing my willingness to meet deadlines and skipping ahead of people that have paid just as much or more than you and have been waiting for a long time.
This service will change in availability. If I have a very long queue, assume this is not available out of courtesy to prior commissioners. Please contact me with any questions.
Refunds & Returns
I do take returns, however, you must have a good reason. Because I show each commissioner their finished plushie before I ship it (and will take any and all pictures of it requested at any point in its construction – remember to ask!) I will not allow a return simply if you decide you don't like the way it looks or because you don't like its color or something. If there is a problem with construction, etc - or something happens to it that is my fault, I will accept a return and refund you your money (or make a replacement.)
What I WON'T make!
I won't work on any designs that feature nudity, illegal substances, weapons or excess violence. My toys are G-rated and safe for children (in both content and materials) and I'd like to keep it that way. I will NOT do any copyrighted characters without the express permission of the owner. This means video game, anime, cartoon, etc. characters that are not of your own design. This also includes the designs of others (including furry characters). Unless you have permission from the character's designer, I will *not* construct it.
What if the plushie gets lost in the mail?
I have personally never had this happen, though I understand people have experienced horror stories in which commissions or other items they’ve paid a large amount of money on have gone missing during transit. When I mail your plushie to you, it will be insured and you will be supplied with a tracking number and a time frame for which you can expect to receive it. If it does not arrive within a week after the time frame you are given, please contact me immediately and I will investigate and file a claim if needed.
