Now that I have your attention, 
sportypup - a friend of mine - has been dealing with Valvular Heart Disease and his situation has recently taken a small downward turn.
I'm not certain of the details about insurance and what they're putting forth, but the hospital is wanting $40,000 from him - $16,000 up front before the surgery. Right now the community has raised roughly $8,000 - half of what is needed.
Several days ago he visited his doctor and ended up getting orders to stay in the hospital until his surgery, which is still TBD because the money isn't there yet.
Any donation to them helps. Donation information is in both of the FNN posts I've linked below.

I'm skeptical too - I've had my doubts, but I've also met him in person. He's gotten pretty weak lately, and I do think this is taking its toll on him. It's ridiculous that so many people in the fandom have abused people's good-will and hospitality to their personal gain because it puts the people who legitimately need the help in a bad position.
