It's a pretty low person who attempts to use a devastating disaster such as the tsunami in Japan to scam money out of people. But hey, some people are selfish and greedy and just don't care.
kavi claimed a few days ago that her sister died as a result of a gas fire in the Oishi, Yamanashi prefecture (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2166267/). There are a couple suspicious things about her claim:
1) She claims she found out about her sister's death because she called her 'home in Japan' (she claims to be a native Japanese temporarily in the States on vacation) and the house maid told her that her sister had died, but didn't go into specifics.
Now. If the maid had a way to call people, wouldn't she call the supposed sister's family RIGHT AWAY to inform them? And even moreso, why wouldn't she go into specifics?
2) There have been NO CONFIRMED DEATHS in that prefecture.
3) Searching various old screenames of hers, she's been 'temporarily' in the US in Ohio for a very long time. She even lists a town in Ohio as her hometown on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/MistyWater7
All of this is made even MORE suspicious by the fact that she apparently has a backlog of owed commissions. And it bothers me that she's already raised $400+ dollars from people to get money for a 'new home'.
ETA: OKLAY I JUST WOKE UP AND AM DOPEY but yes she has been temporarily banned while mods investigate.
I've read the formspring. She claims her sister's name was 'Kavito'. Hilarious. You're not going to find a 'v' sound in a Japanese word or name. Her knowledge of the Japanese language is pitiful.

Another thing to note is that most telephone connections are not subject to the same clogging and slowing down behavior that internet connections and other data connections are because they are virtual channel switched networks instead of packet switched networks. In other words, there is a fixed number of "lines" from point A to point B, and when you make a call, the telephone network is dedicating a specific amount of bandwidth (64kbps or 8khz x 8bit for terrestrial links) to your call.

Lst time I was in my old friend's old house was about 2 years ago and I still remember the layout perfectly.
So for someone to act COMPLETELY NORMAL and even HAPPY while something like this supposedly happens, yeah no. That's BS.

This shout was made May 13, 2009 which would be consistent with someone in junior high school, which solidifies the birth year of 1996. We can infer from this and the above evidence that she is in fact 14 years, 6 months old.
