I think most people who spin poi or glowstring teach themselves. I'm learned everything on my own through experimentation, tutorials, and just by watching and analyzing the movements of other poi/glowstringers.

I recommend you watch this video BEFORE you try anything.

What Wildchild says is right. When you start glowstringing, you're gonna hit yourself a lot... a LOT... I had so many bruises... Although the pain motivated me to make fewer mistakes, you may want to start off with soft poi instead if pain isn't really your thing.
