My U.S. trip this year was very awesome but unfortunately left me with about 1000$ of health care costs on my credit card, short story is at the end of this post.

Backstory:
I ruptured 2 ligaments before the trip but luckily (thanks to my parents support) I could fly after all. In the U.S. I needed to get more of a blood thinner medication since you're not allowed to get more than 2 weeks of supplies of it.
Since my foot was in a bad condition when I went to the doctor, he said it was absolutely needed to get an ultrasonic blood vessel check. Being extremely scared of the outcome, I went there. Just like everything else, I got to experience how it feels to be without insurance in the U.S. :/
The biggest shock was however getting my medications.. 14 tiny injections of Exoaparin Sodium cost 450$ + tax!

2 doctors visits - 220$
Ultrasonic blood vessel check - 250$
14 Injections - 470$
+ other meds resulting in about 1000$

My travel insurance might cover it but they also might not since it was a preexisting condition and nothing that happened during a trip.. in any case, VISA wants the money and I have to pay in any case very soon..
