Comp troubles.

I got a notebook from a family member who was having trouble with it. It's a Dell with Windows 7 and it decided to crap out on her one day when she tried to log in. It gives me this message
"The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User Profile cannot be loaded." then I log off, and it does the same thing again and again. Usually, with my laptop and desktop I'd give up and take it into Best Buy and have Geeksquad restore it to factory conditions, wiping the hard drive clean and stuff. Thing is, this tiny note book doesn't have it's OS built into it so I had to get an external dvd drive and an OS disc sent.
Now, I'm having a hard as hell time to try and get to those factory settings so I can get this thing working again. If anyone can help me out with this, please tell me.
Also, I'm having a hell of a hard time with my laptop right now with some damned virus or something. A stupid 'vista security' pop up keeps showing up every time I try to log on and wants me to buy this program and is so far preventing me from getting to the internet. Luckily, I managed to find a backdoor around it but don't know how long it'll be before I crash again. If anyone has an idea on how I can fix that, please tell me as well.
I swear, I'm horrible around technology, and I wish I didn't need to rely on it. I can't wait to save up to buy a Mac.

The problem here is that it sounds like the User Profile was deleted or corrupted. The good news is that the security identifier (SID) is not removed and and profile can be restored from this. First question I have is can you start the computer in "safe mode" and are you comfortable with making some registry edits to restore the profile?

It is a Douchebag and took me a little bit to get rid of. I had to get Malwarebytes to remove it. Aunt's computer. Crazy thing it was.
Lot of viruses going around lately. I've had a couple suspicious emails that I quickly deleted without opening and I had a few of my friends on YIM get hacked and a bot kept trying to get me to go to some bogus site.

Unfortunately Spybot S&D won't work, but to prevent this in the future, I also recomend 'No script' program for your browser =d
