Betta Pup Info
(apologies if this is all over. I'm writing it down as it comes to me simply so i have it down)
Betta pups are small creatures, with features from various dog breeds and betta fish
They can be any breed of dog and have any type of fin.
Most bettas have no tail other than a fin, but some may be born with nubs
Being based off a specific dog breed is rare/uncommon
the general body type if a betta pup is just that of a generic dog, like a husky or lab, ect
The average bettapup is between 3 and 6 inches from chest to butt.
Fin type is usually dictated by fur length. Short and hairless breeds will have plakat fins, long furred breeds will have rosetails or halfmoon fins, medium fur lengths will have all other fin types.
It is possible for tail types and fur length to not match.
size of the bettapup is determined by 'breed'
small breeds(chihuahuas, pomeranians, ect) are smaller, larger breeds(gshep, husky, ect) are larger, and very large breeds(great dane, wolfhound, ect) are the largest
average bettapups and about 4 1/2 inches
Markings can be based off fish or dogs. Colours are always that of betta fish.
Like bettas, they breath both through gills, and a labyrinth organ
Because of this, they thrive in water but can stay on land for a short amount of time.
When kept as pets, they live best in at least a 5 gallon tank, with most of the tank filled with water and some land for them to walk on(think frog, or turtle tank)
75% water and 25% land is reccomended
They eat meat and insects, and can live on a diet of regular betta food, high quaily crushed up dog food, or small insects like mosquito larva, ect.
They may attempt to eat plants and other objects, but they just have curious mouths.
In a large enough area, they can be kept with other animals. African dwarf frogs, snails, plecos, cory catfish, and tetras are all common tankmates for bettapups, as long as the tank is large enough. Because their tanks are not totally filled with water, its adviced to go up at least 10 gallons more than what a regular fish is kept in.
Unlike regular betta fish, bettapups can be kept together regardless of sex
Females can be kept in pairs of 2 for every 5 gallons of space(so four can be kept in 10 gallons, 6 in 20, ect.)
Males that are kept together require at least 5 gallons for each bettapup in the tank. Sexes can be mixed
Both sexes are agressive to each other, and keeping them in tighter quarters will result in fights and possibly death.
they are tropical creatures and require a heated tank. tanks must also be humid. leaving the water for to long without being in a humid area leads to death.
Improper living conditions, or long tail(especially on smaller bettapups) may lead to stress and tail biting.
