My father has quit drinking for the last three months.

I feel I have been treating him like he was his high and drunk old self I've known him to be. I owe him an apology for every time I avoided him and cut a conversation short because I was afraid he'd make it awkward. He still can do that, and does, but I owe it to him as a man.

I love my father. He's always been there for me and now I feel like he's doing something really great for himself. Not just doing something for himself, doing something great for himself.

I kind of want to cry. I kind of want to sing.
