~Remember~
before submitting a dish please read our club rules and TOS on the main page One of our Faccc memebers that many of you may know has a cooking meme that he wishes to share with you all.
So without further ado here is something that may be fun to do.
Quoted from the journal of
chrismukkah that can also be found at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2545213/ Actually, I give this as an open, and friendly challenge to all chefs and even would-be chefs!
THE FIFTY STATE DISH MEME (51 if you count Puerto Rico :P)
~ If you are from a particular state, just cook up your state dish!
~ You are also allowed - and encouraged - to put your own take on the dish or to completely turn it on its head / deconstruct it! But, JUST THAT ONE DISH if you can help it (though a side dish is allowed with it)
~ For those furs that dont live HERE in the states you are encouraged to do the same, but it has to be from YOUR region!
ALLEZ CUISINE!!! :p
UPDATE: ~ There isnt a time limit to this, get it done when you can :)
Besides, this meme needs to catch on- so spread the word, fellow furs!

I have trouble picking a representative food for state since its such an absolute mishmash of cultures. "fusion cuisine" would probably be the best description. I don't even live in a big town and I can get everything from guinea pig to kibbe to sushi to moussaka within a 20 minute drive. Since its all here, it makes for some...interesting home cooking sometime. You mean you're not supposed to put bratwurst in pita?
DIABEETUS!
The Pie Floater is a meal consisting of a meat pie served upside down in a dish of pea soup. Topped with a healthy dollop of tomato sauce. It is common in South Australia, and sometimes seen in other parts of Australia. The pie floater is a popular midnight snack for drinkers and revelers.
Ingredients
•1 meat pie (commercial pies are fine (in South Australia its a Balfours Meat Pie))
•1 can pea soup
+ tomato sauce
Procedure
•Heat the Pie in an oven. A microwave will not work as well, as the pie pastry will not be crisp.
•Heat the pea soup separately.
•Place the pie upside down in the dish, and pour the pea soup around it until the dish is full.
Serve with Tomato Sauce
I don't have time to make up any pie floaters at the moment but felt I wanted to share it with you anyhow. I would usually use a Balfours Meat Pie and traditionally make homemade pea soup rather than a canned version simply because it tastes better.
