I don't think it's lame. While macros usually are hyper, not all of them are, and there are a lot of hyperfurs who aren't macros. Separating the two makes the contest more fair, and interesting. Since as the writer said, for a macro to be involved there would literally be no contest, of course there'd be broken condoms everywhere.

And anyway, macro stories require a different way of writing and plotting then mere hyper ones.
