"Furry Beach": obvious scam.
First, thanks to FizzOtter, Duncan Da Husky, and Silverautomatic for information.
So, we got this: http://furrybeach.weebly.com/ It is a scam. scam scam. scammity scam. How do I know?
#1 All the pictures on the website are from other conventions, including Furfright and Anthrocon.
#2 Apparently the con happened in 2009 and 2010, but no one's heard of it. Including fursuiters featured in the photgraphs.
#3 On the page, it says "If you don't have a fursuit, we'll lend you one from our donated fursuits." Wht?a
#4 Their registration prices are $15, with Sponsor at $20. Double-what?
#5 Their listed 'people who have registered' page seems auto-generated, with every last person listed having a fursuit
#6 Their listed con location simply does not exist.
#7 Numerous spelling and typographical errors suggesting shoddy efforts.
#8 Absolutely no listed names in association with the convention.
#9 The 'con hotel' is a timeshare and has never heard of Furry Beach. And the link isn't even live HTML.
Scam central. Do not fall for this. Spread the word.

oh god this is so stupid. not even realistic.
Oh, PS, if I didnt list a con you attend and like, by all means let me know about it! I want to hear about more cons :3 Who knows, if it looks good I may pop out and add an attendee!
This site didn't even put that much effort into it.

Oh, and it takes place in "a building" on "the beach".
X3
Whoever falls for this deserves their fate.
...Put your average furry with 5+ years in the fandom to this task, give them a week, and they'd be able to make a much better scam site. It's laughable, but They've probably got some money.. but let's all make sure to spread the word so they get no more, ah?
And yeah, spreading the word

It's Doryu shepherd at AC in 2009.
I do not remember being on a beach at the time. or in California.
FAILITY FAIL FAIL.
I also can't imagine trying to clean sand out of fursuits. hard enough to get it off humans!
They will be useful when I'm planning my own scam!
...Wait, I mean when looking at cons in the future.
More recently, we've got Equivamp proposing to start a furmeet in Kansas. But I'm sure a furmeet run by an active member of Encyclopedia Dramatica isn't suspicious at all...
As for Kansas and a furmeet, well, dunno. Furmeets have a way of taking on a life of their own beyond the founders. (Often furry cons, too!) It might be a jibe, or it might get surprisingly real surprisingly fast. Either way, I'm not goin' to Kanasas again anytime soon. ;)
