Furry Fantasy Hockey Part 3 (important)
This journal is basically a follow up to the last. First its gonna have a very basic rundown of the rules for those who asked or havent played before. Then it'll explain how we're gonna have the 2 leagues interact (refer to last journal if you're not sure what I mean), then I'll break down how the leagues are divided. The names you'll see down there are based on who replied when the initial journal was posted. If you wanted to play then but don't know, that's fine just say so. If you didn't wanna play then, or didn't see the journal then but want to play now, just say so,its not a problem, we can squeeze you in. Alrighty, lets dig in.
THE RULES
First off, after signing up and choosing your team name and what not, there will be a draft. A draft is when you and the other players in your league, selected in a random order, pick one NHL player at a time until you've each got a full team. The draft will take place at a (to be determined) date and time. You can either be online at that time and participate live, or you can organize a list of players by priority and the computer will draft your team for you based upon that list. Either way, both methods are very user-friendly and self explainatory when you're actually looking at it.
After everyone's got their teams, each week you will be matched up head-to-head with a different opponent from your league. The matches are very simple. There are 5 categories
Goals
Assists
Points
+/-
And Goalie Goals Against Average
Now, for example, lets say in the first week fox plays wolf. If the players drafted to fox's team score more goals than than the players dradted to wolf's, fox gets a point in the goals category. If wolf's goalie has a better GAA than fox's, wolf gets a point. If fox has more goals, assists, and points, and wolf has more penalty minutes and better Goals Against, fox has won that matchup 3-2.
Each week is a different matchup and towards the end of the NHL season theres a playoffs among the teams with the better records, and of course, in each league is a champion.
This is a very basic rundown of it but if you understand that much you'll be just fine. There are some intricicies to it but they're a lot easier to understand just by looking at it. If you have any questions about those finer points, or if anything I described is unclear, ask away and I'll do my best to answer you.
INVOLVING BOTH LEAGUES
Okay so if you remember from the last journal we were trying to come up with a way to make it so that this wasn't one big divide down the middle being that we had too many furs participating to all play in one league. Well, I took bits and pieces out of all of your suggestions and this is what I came up with, it's pretty cool.
We will split into 6 teams, 4 furs per team. (this is totally seperate from the individual games described above. The same fantasy teams and stats will be used, but the team you play in this little side game wont impact your individual matchups in any way. If I'm being unclear let me know and I'll describe it more throughly). Of those 6 teams, teams 1, 2 and 3 play in league A, while teams 4, 5, and 6 play in league B. Every week, each team will play another. The winner will be determined using the same set of categories as the individual games, but the scores will be accumulated from all four of the furs' fantasy teams on said team. I know that's a tongue twister so let me give you an example. Let's say team 1 consists of Dog, Cat, Mouse, and Lion. At the end of the week, if the four of their fantasy teams combined for 70 goals. They're facing team 2, and at the end of the week team 2's players combine for 65 goals. Team 1 then gets the point because they accumulated more goals. From there it follows the same format as in individual games, and at the end of hockey season we'll have a champion team!
THE TEAMS
I divided up the teams like this, I divided up the newbies so that no team had an experience disadvantage. From then on, just threw everyone of teams completely at random. Oh and we don't gotta go by "Team 1" and stuff, give your teams a nickname. But for now, the default. Here it goes:
(playing in league A)
Team 1: BelicBear, Wolfyisms, Paskhowl, tiger_sammy
Team 2: SingingPenguin, Beino, Paulshep, Bjorn_Grafeldr
Team 3: Jonathon0322, Blizzardwuffy, BariSaxophone, RedYoshi
(playing in league B)
Team 4: VoondahbaYosh, Wildfox34, CodyTHuski, Backdraftwolf
Team 5: furryhuskyjj, bedtimeBear, SherwoodBoy, FerricFox
Team 6: theJudgedOne, Matthiaz_Andersson, Gentoo, Kaifox
Okay since thats a lot to take in and I probably just confused the ever loving shit out of you, I'll be checking back frequently to answer any questions you have about it. If you're lost right now please don't be intimidated, like I've said before its a whole lot easier when you're looking at it. Still don't know when yahoo is starting up their fantasy leagues but I let you all know as soon as I find out.
Take care everyone!

Oooh, and add +/- pretty please!
a) You pick your team once at the beginning of the season and that's it? No picking again? Once you pick that's the team you have for the entire season?
b) what if a player you pick gets injured? Are you shit out of luck? ;o)
c) Around when is the draft going to be? Sept sometime?
Other than that, I think I understand. Sounds like a freakin' BLAST!
B) on your team you can draft 3 or 4 "bench players" whose stats arent counted toward your teams weekly totals unless you sub them in for one of your normal lineup players. This is crucial for when your top center is gonna be out for a few weeks, just stick him on the bench
C) id probably say second week of september? Take that with a bit of leeway but roughly that time
Fucks yeah its gonna be a blast!
Thanks for the info!
Are you going to give us a link before the draft to where all the player info is? Or do we do the research ourselves? Also, can you pick ANY players? Is there a "salary cap"? Do players cost money? Or can you just pick all the stars you can get your hands on?
Do we pick and play a starting lineup? 3 forwards, 2 D, and a goalie? Or a full team of 20 players (12 forwards, 6 D, 2 Goalies)? Plus whatever scratches/backups we're allowed to have? What's the total number of players we'll need to pick (including the extra backup players)?
But I'm looking forward to getting this season going!!! Summer takes too long, too much boring baseballlllllllll
Can I be Team Olympian Musion! And for my picks, Just the Dallas Stars? :D
