Characters from the Heart
Okay, so we all have fursonas....in other words, anthro critters of ourselves, that represent us in the furry subculture.
But this isn't about those. Somewhere along the line, we've created other characters. Characters that come from us, but aren't fursonas or self-representations. Case in point, I have Lili Fox,
ebonyleopard has Artica and the rest of the Extinctioners, Mike Russell has Vicki Fox, Max Blackrabbit has ZigZag...you get the idea.
So I ask you...who here has characters they've created that mean a lot to them? That really came from the heart, and are considered a personal favourite. How did this character come to be? Why is he/she so important to you?
For an example, I'll start. A lot of you already know how Lili came to be and why she means so much to me. But in a nutshell, I cherish Lili because she came from aspects, places, and ideas that stemmed from the heart. Things that were important to me, and important to my late mother. As Lili's grown, she's become her own vixen in a matter of speaking. But her roots still lie in memories and such that I've always kept close to me.
So that's my story. What about you guys? What character have you created that's special to you?

Parondor Calhoren: I created him when I was on a Giant kick (aka 7'+), and his trials and tribulations due to his height gave him extra depth.
Dreysanius von Acrutar. A powerhouse of a bear who cannot walk. Playing a disabled fur is so fascinating.
Styral Beers. He's so much fun to write for. Created him as a kid, now he's a teenager, and WAY out of step with the rest of his world.
Those two characters are VERY close to my heart, and while they are not representations of myself, they are in a way. They are a manifestation of my personality and experience. I have made them to keep my connections with my loved ones and the best of my friends.
Well, because I can kinda relate to a cow *minus the fat part*
Another close character of mine is Saturday (the otter herm) the shy and innocent part of me is created in hir.
And Wednesday (the monkey girl) is the wild child part of me.
Good post Babsies. <3 *heads off to bed*
This was a great post. and my girfriend has her character named Bently, An artic bunny/fox; a BUNNYFOX. *^^*
Kitsura: The closest I have to a Fursona, Kitsura is a Japanese fox (not the mythical kitsune, however) who has gone to America for the education, only to wind up in the crazy antics or two americans Jesse Focks (a grey fox vixen who enjoys creating mischief) and Neo (A raccoon from a long line of video gamers alledgedly dating back to the Arabian Nights. Don't ask. What counts however is the fact that he can basically manipulate a game as he plays it, and has an odd history). Kitsura is just a basic schmuck in this situation.
Morfox: My own entry into Liquid shifting characters inspired in part by T-100 from Terminator 2. However, Morfox is much nicer and has no interest in taking lives. It was crafted from magical energy.
Techsune: Originally made on Furcadia as a spoof of some kitsune who took crazy elements not fitting the list of the 13 (talk to an expert), this character is a kitsune for a sci-fi setting, with Technology as her element She is assisted by a raccoon android companion DSR and is something of an adventurer, with a fondness for tinkering with anything and everything. Also an 80s Pop Culture junky, movie fan, and avid video gamer. She was also responsible for creating the next character.(Tails: 2)
Vixream: Techsune was originally asked by her mate to rebuild a motorcycle he once had (that motorcycle got destroyed in a fight against a bunch of undead monsters) and then Techsune got an idea to do something more. As an 80s pop culture fan, she took a page from Hasbro/Takara and created a Motorcycle Transformer with a Kitsune main mode. Vixream Her "spark" (soul) was provided by her father. She is generally pleasant but also quite naive and scared of fighting despite her strength, durability, and speed. For aesthetic reasons, she has two tails.
Sepp Rennis: It's an odd story for this coyote. He is a former gambler who was enslaved after losing a bet. The man who enslaved him needed another freak for the circus he ran, so Sepp was made into a "Detachable Coyote," which meant that now Sepp can detach parts of himself (head, hands, feet, arms, legs, tail, and pelvic region). During the five years of his enslavement, he did what any sideshow freak was meant to do, and at the end of the term, he was released, but the magic was not undone. He's actually adjusted quite well all things considerred. Also the first character I made who was actually Gay (I'm personally heterosexual, but mature enough to realize that playing a gay character has no impact on my own sexuality.)
*first one that comes to mind*...There was one little gang of characters i made up yeears ago...when I first started liking rabbits (before I re-discovered TTA). I forgot what names I gave them but it consisted of 5 colorful, psychotic bunnies that escaped from a genetic experimentation lab, hell-bent on killing anyone and everyone in various comedic ways...
I have many more but... I don't wanna type it all out <.<
I'd have to say Jake is the most important of my characters to me, even more so than the avatar/fursona used to represent 'me'. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that I get to include my interest in history and murder mysteries, but also because I put into him some of the greatest short comings in terms of personality and humanity anyone could have. That's not to say he's 'emo' or that he's been through some aweful tramatic life, but that he represents my belief that everyone takes experiences differently. He's the more violent, more tragic extreme, and as horrible as his actions are, you can't help but feel some bit of sympathy for him. A bit of Jekyll/Hyde syndrome I guess, letting me delve into the opposite extremes of life, if just to reassure myself why I'm playing the other field.
Ramble, ramble, but I think I have a whole new level of appreciation for the bloke now!
Case in point: for over 15 years, my mascot (not fursona) was Louis Fender, a pixy-winged alien catgirl who was essentially violence incarnate. Her normal MO for dealing with anything was to shoot it in the face, and since this was the early-to-mid-90's, a couple years before "Girl Power," the fact that she was a female acting like male anti-heroes like Lobo and Wolverine made her popular at my college. In fact, a friend of mine who was big into the furry fandom was going to sponsor her as the Security Team mascot for a CA furry con he was on the organizing committee for...and then, a week before the con, he was gunned down, execution-style, by members of a local girl gang.
For a year, I couldn't even THINK of Louis without getting ill and angry, because it seemed like she was the embodiment of the very thing that murdered her biggest fan. My ex, then just my fiancee', suggested I try getting into her head and finding something worth liking about her, which I did via an online MUCK. While it may have watered down her impact, she ended up becoming very important to me because of that, so much so that, when I suffered a mental breakdown on my 30th birthday, she was one of three characters that, in my fevered state, I saw sacrificing themselves to heal my fractured mind. Say what you will about the "reality" of fictional characters, but, in the state I was in, their sacrifice was real enough, and I've been healing into someone stronger than before ever since.
Since then, I haven't been willing to draw her, but her "spirit" lives on in my current mascot, Maisy, a human-looking battle android with the body of a teenager and the personality of a Brooklyn dockworker, to quote one of my online buddies.
