Whoops! Might try this one again when I'm more clued up xD

Husky Hi!
The idea of Urbex photography has always fascinated me. The abandoned buildings, places I shouldn't be in.. it all excites me a bit :P
So it hit about 11pm and I though f*ck it. I'll see what I can do...
I live near an Ordinance survey building which has been left/abandoned and demolition works are currently underway. I thought it might be a place if any to get a good first set of photos in.
What I didnt consider, was how to get in, was there going to be security?...and a number of other factors I realised once I parked my moped up a couple of blocks away....
Anyhow. All I had with me, was my phone (torch when nessecary), My keys, my camera a second lens and a tripod. That was it. Nothing else.
So I cautiously walk through the car parking area on site and I see no sign of security, cameras on the building are all facing down or at irrelevant angles and there's fencing EVERYWHERE. I could walk round the very first bit, but where it starts to get interesting, is where they have made sure that it's going to be awkward to get in xD
In short, being the skinny bastard I am, I managed to squeeze myself UNDER the fence, and although I had to half unload my bag to get it through after me, eventually I was the opposite side of the boundary.
Sudden buzz. I could see through the windows. Empty, things laying around at random, it just looked so much FUN inside there. Such a world of oppertunity!
I approached the sliding doors. F*ck. They'd been locked. I couldn't pry them apart and I had no lock pick on me.. and even if I did, should I be caught I could end up with break and entry against my name :/
Ok. First point of entry exhausted. Looked the most fun through that window. But I wont give up hope...
I continue along the side of the building till I reach some locked up scaffolding. Looking upwards to see where it lead, I could see I wasn't going to get inside, so I didn't bother clambering up that.
Then I hit where they had obviously done most of the demolition. Wow. What a mess.... at this point I hadn't used a torch at all but when it became just a bit too dark to see where I was walking among the rubble I turned it on... holyshittheresahalfdemolishedstructure/foorabovemyhead!!!
Looking back down, ceiling lights smashed, rubble, cables. all sorts. But it still wasn't what I wanted. I wanted to be inside. Not on the demolished outside.
I began to work my way back and noticed there were stacks of... well I don't know, but they were sturdy as anything. Looking up further I saw an open small window.... Was this my chance?... I clambered up the stack... then realising that I was in very easy and full view of the road a little distance away. Looking at the window, nope, I wasn't going to get to that without being caught by some passer by. Bollocks.
So I though I'd give up for now and see what was round the other side of the building. Sliding myself back underneath the fence and heading round the other side. All the usual construction walls and such.
Suddenly.
SHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT!!!!!!!
I saw a security guard out of the corner of my eye and I literally dived for cover down behind a low rise hedge, Now VERY alert and my ears practically supersonic listening for footsteps. Hood up, curled up, behind the hedge. I took a cautious peek upwards beneath my hood. He had continued.. I swear he had seen me. He was heading in the opposite direction until he dissapeared round the corner of the building out of my view.
I couldnt call it safe. I stayed put... then I heard the footsteps coming back.
DEAD. STILL.
Not moving a muscle. Hoping the shadow and the hedge would somewhat save my ass.
I waited.
...and waited...
"You know you shouldn't be here mate."
One of the deepest. Most growling, fucking scary voices I've heard in ages.
You know those moments you get when your heart just drops a mile because you know you've been caught.
Yeah.
That happened.
I mumbled a bit and hoped that he'd see the tripod protruding out of my bag in the hope he would have SOME SLIGHT clue as to why the hell I was there in the first place.
I then proceeded to move out. Fast.
All in all. Fuck. It was good while I was even just on the outskirts of the place. If only I had gotten myself in. Having gotten home now. People HAVE gotten inside. and sweet mother of god it looks awesome... but I want to experience that first hand.
Maybe trying it at closing up in 12.30am wasn't the best idea in the world.
So yeah. If anyone actually does Urbex photos/photography oin a regular basis and can easily make it to the old Ordinance Survey site without much trouble... please let me tag along and learn. Because I'll be honest, I'm pretty damn clueless as to what I'm doing. All I know is what I WANT to do. But not HOW to do it Dx
I'm peeking around the 28dayslater.co.uk forum for the time being looking for answers and advice xD
Tazon husky out.
Oh, and I made a video whilst I was trying to work my way inside. I havent even watched the clips myself and I got a few photos. I'm not too pleased with them mind you because they were only on the outside. I was too concentrated on trying to get INSIDE via the ONE wall I was on to think too much about the pics xD
MY
FUCKING
GODILOVEURBEX
But in this case.
I ENTIRELY fail xD
I'm sure I shall learn the error of... everything... I did in time xD
That being said, they have never physically caught me and I am not ashamed to say I've run from the bastards many times. One thing about it that sucks is most "normal" people don't see the point in visiting abandoned sites simply to explore and photograph for the experience, and since they don't understand it they think you're just there to steal shit and break windows....
Keep at it dude!!
I had the option of running... but I didn't want the guy chasing after me. The bag I had on would have meant I'd have probably lost my tripod if I moved too radically :/ So I stayed put in the shadows and hoped for the best. Obviously hope wasn't enough luck on my side :P
Trust me. I would never intend to break anything on purpose, steal anything or damage property no matter wether it's abandoned or not. If I was that sort of person. You'd see a lot more photos of the inside of the building in my gallery xD Cause there were PLENTY of windows to hand! Lol.
I'm glad I just got told to get out of there., and nothing more serious than that. I spose he had no idea as to why I was there, could see no damage and thus had nothing to pin on me or something xD
I do intened to keep at it!... just maybe giving myself a better idea on how to get in, maybe a map of the inside if I can. Rather than just going for it and hoping for the best :P
Thanks for the encouragement! :D
I might have to save up for that! Looks like a fantastic little guide.. well, maybe not little, but hey :P
Definitely will check it out... sad to hear the author died in 2005 though :(
I guess the only reason he only told me to get out of there and nothing worse was because I hadn't damaged anything, I hadn't even moved the fencing to get past. I was just out of bounds and hiding with a hood over my head and a tripod sticking out the top of my bag :P
The thrill of being there was unreal.. even if I didn't get inside. But I do intend to get inside somehow. I just need to do more planning and work up the courage xD
Shit happens, I was caught... no doubt it was because I was roaming around the outside in fairly plain view for best part of an hour xD
