She enjoys portraying herself as a half-aware and dimwitted beast, drunken in the stupor of her own bodily composure.
Sheryl: He's...he's coming...
Akira: Hey! What are you... -- tch, I mean... -- MOVE!!!
Sheryl: He's here...
Katherine: What the...
Sheryl: He's somewhere. He's trying...
Shila: Why will she not stand?
Monitor: She's SUCCUMBING!
Katherine: "Succumbing?" To what?
Monitor: The angelic... -- No... The demonic influence is overtaking her!
Katherine: The what???
Monitor: She is giving in to the pleasantries of a demonic thrall!
Akira: Why in the hell would she even~
Monitor: LISTEN TO ME!
Shila: *to Sheryl* Sheryl?
Monitor: Before now, there wasn't any particular reason for her to react in this way. The reason for this behavior is likely tied to Nigel's absence!
Akira: That's just stupid.
Monitor: It is NOT! If she is being led to believe that the presence she feels is in fact Nigel's condemned soul then there is nothing we can do to move her from where she stands!
Akira: No...I don't believe this shit... *he goes to Sheryl*
Katherine: Akira!
[narration conveying Sheryl's behavior patterns as Akira grabs her shoulders]
Akira: Sheryl! We can't stay here forever! Wake up!
Sheryl: *she looks to the sky, having fallen on her knees as her eyes widen gradually* Is he there with you mother? Is...is he there?
Shila: She haz become delusory!
Katherine: *she pushes Akira aside* MOVE!
[narration conveying Sheryl's lax behavior, and how Katherine tries to calm her own voice]
Katherine: *she crouches down next to Sheryl* Sheryl, can you see him?
Sheryl: *she continues to stare*
Katherine: *to Sheryl* What can you see right now?
Shila: *to Katherine* Her eyes... Haz she gone blind?
Katherine: Please...tell me. What can you see?!
Akira: *to Sheryl* Did you even HEAR me?!
Katherine: *to Akira* FUCK...OFF!!!
Akira: We're running out of~ *he pauses* Damnit!!!
Katherine: *to Sheryl* Is he alive?
Sheryl: *she begins to shed tears*
Katherine: Is he breathing?
Sheryl: *her tears well up even more*
Katherine: Gods help us... WHAT CAN YOU SEE?!
I was typing this up yesterday, and only just continued it tonight. Since then, I honestly lost lots of inspiration that I had for it.
I like the idea of context-sensitive characterization. To be quite honest, this is inconsistent as hell. But one thing present in this is a general, situational concept that happens in my stories whenever someone [who is mostly "normal"] comes into close contact with an angelic or demonic being. To make a long story short, when a mortal being draws nearer to any manner of angelic, demonic, or [some] otherworldly entity, their perceptions of reality - even their general mindstate - can become altered for better or worse, and this is especially true in Sheryl's case being that later on in my stories, she comes into [whatever manner of] realization of her innate ability of limited foresight. To an extent, she can see the future. How this correlates with her and how it ties into Nigel's absence (which occurs much later in the timeline) has yet to be conceptualized.
Building upon the simple, easier to understand facets of my overall "Parasympathy" story only becomes easier when I expound upon and conceptualize its more complex oddities.
