Picnic Pics Prepped Up Posting Warning
This is a coyote... I'm making a note here HUGE SUCCESS.
Hi there
To give you an idea my work flow for more "semi pressured" picture sets from an event
After taking pictures
My first step getting them into the computer this is about 1-2 hour process. I know I need to buy a firewire 800 reader but they cost money ;)
After that I them import into lightroom. Then let lightroom chow on previews. This will take literally hours on my computer because the amount and size of image files. Usually this may also include a nap or just going to bed in the night.
I then might do a pic or two the first day or so. This is more a warm up to see how the pictures work when I go through the steps of developing.
Then I put lightroom up in the river of pictures mode and slide through them all. I look for pictures that
A) Show the event - Always important to show the event
B) Makes me remember something - I take pictures to share a memory
C) Puts a smile on my face - I'm always looking for that picture that puts a smile and makes me happy I shared that memory
D) Doesn't repeat the same costume/person/animal/scene as much - I tend to take a lot of pics of the same thing either trying to get that right look or find that moment that will make me go OMG that's cute. And I am bias on certain things - so I will naturally take more pics of that. I try to get a range of things so it's not just one thing (Lets face it if I didn't do that I would be posting only coyote photos)
E) Fast to processes - Light touch up work pictures
I get that collection developed spending no more than 15 minutes per picture and then post that collection up (On FA, home gallery etc) usually in a faster than normal succession.
After I finish with that round of posting I put everything on back burner. Even to the point I forget about it.
Then over weeks and months I go back do one or two up. Sometimes with new skills, new angle, and sometimes with a new eye. The break refreshes me and then also help me remember the good times I had while taking the pictures. IT also allows me to take pictures I love and really scrub and fix them. Take the time needed to make them awesome.
I keep repeating the process until I am done with the directory and archive the directory. Again this part may take months to years.
For those that went to the MNFurs Picnic I have spent the last two days doing my major round of attack and have a large collection of pictures to post. I'll start posting them up when I go on my trip to Boston, MA area this week.
For those that didn't go... I hope you like fursuit photos you are going to be getting a lot ;)

Thanks. I need something better than paper pads full of notes. Does Lightroom have something like that? The Sigma RAW software for my ancient Sigma SD9 and SD14 does a nice job on the pictures but is no help keeping track of the workflow.
