Fundraiser/Charity Time (Animals & Children)
Well my husband's Annual Fundraiser season has started.
For those of you who don't know, he runs a Let's-Play webcast every Sunday, where failure/hilarity ensues.
A bunch of us (him,me, our friends) mock, swear at, or derail discussions about the games being played; I personally babble about chores, baking and any art I'm working on but sometimes I notice questions and comments in the chat and respond to those.
Once a year we run a fundraiser called The Play It War, where viewers can vote for the game they want to see played for this event, and once 2 Finalists are selected, they can donate money to vote for their favourite of the Finalists (usually the one that'll cause us the most discomfort) played for X amount of time based on the amount of money ends up being donated.
Normally the money from this has gone towards offsetting the maintenance costs of running the webcast equipment (hardware based Technical Difficulty is no fun for anyone) and pay expenses such as the hosting for our website and helping us pick up titles throughout the year (in lieu of donated games, which are also appreciated).
However this year we'll be donating half of our earnings to Child's Play Charity and the ASPCA organizations!
We're glad we have such wonderful fans who turn up every week and have helped us so much the last few years, so we've decided to try and give back to the community a little by donating money to charity. Currently we're picking our two titles to compete in the fundraising so we need everyone to vote!
(This is the FREE part of the voting process, so please vote for which games will ! I have my fingers crossed for Jak & Daxter or Ratchet & Clank to reach the Final Voting Phase, personally)
http://www.javgw.com/Playitwar/ <---For further information/explanation and to vote on which 2 games will enter the 'War' Segment of this event.
ADDITIONALLY! If you think all this voting is nonsense or confusing or tedious and would rather just get the Charity part over and done with:
We plan to have extra stuff!
We will be auctioning off some ADORABLE keychains graciously donated to us by
spooks (check out the awesome Not-So-Belligerent Little Buffalo she made for me!) as well as a raffling tickets for fabulous prizes!
Like soap!
Not just ANY soap; NERD soap.
Such as soap the shape of an NES controller, or a companion cube, OR EVEN AN ELEMENT OF HARMONY!!(I want Kindness myself, but who doesn't want to lather up with Laughter or Honesty -which smells like apples, whoda thunk- or Generosity?) fresh from Luxury Lane Soaps!
We'll likely post journals about those as well as mentioning it on the webcast; those who tune in and listen will likely be at an advantage tho.: 3
The main event will be starting next week or so, so get your votes in as soon as possible so that your favorite game will get to compete! Or just... come check us out at http://www.twitch.tv/balade . We'll be doing stuff most evenings leading up to the Play-It war, along with our current regularly scheduled Friday Minecraft Multiplayer, Saturday DnD & the Sunday Video-Game Webcast.
tl;dr

Expect this to be plastered in the description of most of the pics I'll be uploading for a while, because I want my husband's ventures to be noticed/successful. : X

and i wonder if one can cu the budget even more as run multiple screens is a bit tricky, and se form caputer to pc and play that way wont work on games relying on sharp reflexes bercause of a data imput lag of 2-3 seconds

We usually broadcast from a console; we've tried a lot of different broadcast programs (Dyyno & Webcam Max have been the best so far) and my husband has saved/spent a lot of money to optimize his PC for broadcasting.
