I know that. They don't know that though, or. They're AWARE of that, but have rejected the sentiment and many more simply roll with it to be accepted. Look at meeeeeeeemmmes. I've had people tell me they hate memes and then go and participate in everything ranging from raiding sims on SL to crash them or just harass people to all the meme journals you see hourly on FA.

I do that all day long, and I actually do care, but I just generally try to laugh at the stupid results of people not listening. With the right perspective, it's pretty funny.

Of course, there are always those unexpected things that arise, that I could have never told somebody what to do or not to do, such as the student yesterday who tied his shoelaces to a chair. That's what makes teaching worthwhile!

Yeah, it's hard to avoid dickwads on sites that are as large as FA, I guess. There are some other random things I see on FA that piss me off. I the user av that said "LOL AIDS" pissed me off. Its like FA is slowly turning into SA. We don't need aggressive ditto-heads here.

Actually if a similar thread happened, also a good part of the posters there would get frowned upon due to the immature aggressiveness in their posts (It took a while but now NUKE IT FROM ORBIT/KILL IT WITH FIRE crap gets you at least a few days penalty or even a ban). Doesn't mean necessarily they would not laugh at the picture or anything like that.

My whole feeling on that, if you're going to post something on the internet, there's always going to be a chance that your going to get a snarky comment of some kind, That's the risk you take.

I do indeed. It's quite easy to be mean and snarky. It takes an effort to control yourself. It's a shame, and probably why the human race wont ever evolve.

Honestly its a balance, ya the kid got trolled, but on the other hand folks shouldn't be entirely sheltered. If I were to give him honest constructive criticism on improving his fursuit, I'd be seen as trolling because I'm not patting him on the back or holding his hand.

yes, it is the sad truth. people in general just can't take hints (the preceding comment was aimed at no-one in particular).

Unfortunately in society there are people that get off on looking for negative things and feel it's their place to point out every negative thing they see. Coupled with the growing immaturity of youth these days, you have a situation were these people lack proper social etiquette and are for the most part unchecked in their troll-like behavior. The best thing we can do to get this cancer to go away is not empower them by just simply ignoring them and not saying in response to them. Most of these "Negative Nancies" are just looking for attention honesty.

There are not enough people expressing this sentiment. It is, sadly, usually considered that people with maturity will simply ignore or overlook that sort of behavior. As if the only people who would truly object to that sort of thing are the ones who are just "too sensitive."

FA was made for a specific purpose, for a specific interest group. That purpose and focus is being overshadowed more and more by the 'just here for the lulz' attitude, and the simple unfortunate truth is that the administration does not recognize the extent to which the tolerance of that attitude is something that this site's true community really doesn't want to have to put up with.

When it comes right down to it, there are people who are here for the purposes the site was meant for, and then there are people here for purposes outside of that focus. Those people are given "fair consideration" due to an admittedly noble intent, but the amount of tolerance and acceptance of people using the site for a lulzfest or snark board is unfairly dismissive of the people who just wish they could have what the site was supposed to be - a place for Furries (and those with an affinity for us) to just post our art freely without hassling others or being hassled ourselves.

The problem is that people don't speak up to the Administration as properly as you do here. The sentiment that the behavior on that submission is not welcome in this community is one that more users need to stand up and state clearly to the administration.

Because most of what they tend to hear comes from the vocal supporters of the "freedom" to allow what happened to that user.

I don't mind folks poking fun or making light of things that happen on this site. A few folks I know skirt a fine line between poking fun and making fun and have been banned for it, which I disagree with. Generally these are smart people and know how to construct a joke without it coming across as calloused mockery, and I wanna protect that because I think that smart ribbing is a huge part of what makes for a fun community. I wanna make that quite clear 'cause I don't wanna come across like I hate all naysayers or something.

I have no patience for bullies, though.

It's SO easy to talk shit to someone when they're 2000 miles away and they don't know who you are. It would have been a totally different story if any shit talker was in the same room with the person being shit talked. It's pretty sad to clown on a total social outcast. It's pretty sad to clown on someone who lacks the facility to backtalk. It's also pretty sad that someone needs to be anonymous before they can go talk shit to someone. But it's really fucking pathetic to go find the meekest of geeks and remotely and anonymously talk shit to them, knowing that nothing is going to be dished back at them.
I once knew a crew of people that does this sort of stuff all the time. I grew disenchanted, and ultimately I disassociated myself from them. I'm just not down with this sort of behavior.
