please read: VERY IMPORTANT esp for AMERICANS #OWS

are you guys getting much news about the protests going on in new York? not just the police brutality stuff and mass arrests from the weekend, but actual reporting of what they’re doing and what they’re fighting for?
cos from other countries it looks like some hardcore fightclub shit might be going on :/ not the beating people up, but the subversive humanistic operation to completely undermine the economy and money system and effectively "bring down the man, man"
if you haven’t seen it already, check out wearethe99percent.tumblr.com - I didn’t really fully realise that nearly everyone I met was really, really lucky. thinking of so many people I know in australia, nearly everyone would be completely screwed and likely homeless if they lived in America.
as for the physical blob of people in new York (and seemingly other cities, soon. October 15 is a popular date for lots of "occupations") it gets my hippie juices all welled up and I go all doe-eyed. they have general assemblies of the population each night, and they have formed working groups under loose banners like internet content, comfort, direct action, legal, arts & culture etc. they have an agenda and process, and there’s a loose gesture system to show crowd support for ideas put forward. they’re not allowed electronic amplification so they use mad call/response skills to get the message to people in the back. it takes like 2 minutes to announce a couple sentences, but they get it done.
the mainstream media is pissed because they never have 1 line or 1 demand that they can get in a sound bite and then try to tear apart. there’s also been a social media blackout with twitter removing #occupywallstreet from their trending lists, despite there being multiple posts a second being tagged with it
personally, I don’t think this is really a protest _against_ anything. the way I see it, its a protest for a philosophy based on democracy through individuality. representative democracy doesn’t seem to work that great when you vote people in to support you then go and do things most people didn’t want them to do when they were elected. its like everyone has been ok with how things are because they’ve always been able to follow the system that results in the American/Australian dream. but it looks like the system is destroying the people who make it what it is. if big business and industry cant rely on crushing a humans spirit in order to get them to do some bullshit task that brings them no satisfaction for the reward of getting money, then they don’t have gears any more.
yeah, it just seems like America in general is in the final act of an epic tragedy, inches away from being completely drowned in hubris. the audience knows its coming, but they don’t know how it would manifest.
"Little did he know that this simple seemingly innocuous act would result in his imminent death"

Occupy Wall Street Protester End the Fed - Best Rant!
This is only the first atom on the iceberg tip.
You're right, it's not a protest against any one thing in particular. It's about community, taking a stand, organizing at a local level and making changes. People are sick of how things are.
We are speaking of revolution.
I can't wait.
