My Little Pony: Friendship is Contagious
Like many things in my life I blame this entirely on
tharakaos
Now I understand the attraction of My Little Pony from a transformation perspective, especially as part of the TG/TF culture, the ponies are extremely feminine and girlish and so they're an attractive subject for sequences and the like, and so I've always enjoyed them in that respect. But when the pony-craze first started I was totally unable to understand what was happening, the internet, and the transformation community in particular were just suddenly flooded by images and gifs and clips of this new show and I couldn't understand why. I tried watching it, but couldn't really get through the first episode, the animation was good but the show itself was just too formulaic and girly, which didn't surprise me seeing how it is a show for children.
So I just ignored the phenomenon and figured it would burn out eventually, I felt indifferent towards it more than anything else.
Then, about a week ago Tharakaos sends me a link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP0f5rvVkAU
And I absolutely love it, it's catchy and bubbly, but at the same time it has this sort of melancholy feel that many remixes of this style seem to have.
So after listening to his other songs (there are only three) Tharakaos then sends me a link to one of the episodes, and I decide that I'll give the show one more chance. This time the episode is from the middle of the second season, and while it's still formulaic and childish I find myself enjoying it, and before I know I've watched the next four episodes.
The animation is quite beautiful, as well as the visuals and voice acting, plus, and this feels odd saying, I really enjoy the world that the writers have set the show in, it's a surprising amount of effort for what could have easily been a forgettable show for girls.
And that's my explanation for the pony transformation I just uploaded.
