This is something that has come up far more than once, and while I don't really get upset from it, I feel irked enough to say something about it.
Yes, I am a furry. Yes, I do draw mature and pornographic content. This does not mean that I want to or am looking to have sexual role play based conversations with you over instant messager.
I do enjoy chatting with those of you who take the time to IM me. It's always nice to talk with others with a common interest in the fandom, expand ties, or just chat in general. This is why I have my screen name posted.
I do NOT enjoy being messaged out of the blue, sucked into a made up scene, nibbled, kissed, pet, scratched, skritched, nuzzled, licked, or yiffed upon. This is not how you make a good and/or long standing impression with me in under 5 minutes. Same thing goes for starters like, "Hey there. I like your art. So, I'm into sticking weird things in weird places with weird people and I thought you'd like to know." Couldn't be less interested.
Long story short, if you want to IM me, feel free to. I'm more than happy to talk about art, music, movies, food, the internet, video games, me, you, life, etc., within the bounds of a civil, conventional, and friendly circle. And if you're unsure about a subject that you feel you want to address, just ask. It's a much more respectable solution than just making an assumption. = )
