Third Christmas Carol Review
The third "Christmas Carol" I would like to review is "My Favorite Things".
I put "Christmas Carol" in quotes, because, frankly, it isn't one. It does not mention Christmas once. The song comes from the musical "The Sound of Music" which does not mention Christmas once.
The only reason why some have decided to make it a Christmas Carol is because it mentions:
Warm woolen mittens
Sleigh bells
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters
That's it. You have four, brief, winter references, and that makes it a Christmas Carol? Not in my book.
In fact, while I'm ranting on that, why is it that every single song about winter gets lumped in with Christmas, which occurs on only the second or third day of winter? You have two whole months of winter after Christmas, but try singing Jingle Bells in January, and people will tell you that Christmas was a month ago. Sheesh...no wonder people hate winter, if you won't even let people brighten it up with decent winter songs.
Songs in this catagory include:
Jingle Bells
Winter Wonderland
Let It Snow
Baby It's Cold Outside (this is a creepy one, anyway, despite the clever rhyme scheme)
Marshmallow World
Sleigh Ride (the original lyrics [btw, the song originally had NO lyrics] say BIRTHDAY party)
Even Frosty The Snowman can be included, despite the magical nature of it, since it never mentions Christmas.
But back to my original point, "My Favorite Things" barely even mentions winter, and it gets called a Christmas Carol. And how in the world did Pachelbel's Canon become associated with Christmas? How?

"You're A Mean One, Mister Grinch" on the other hand... And that one is my NEXT target.

"White Christmas"
Trying to imagine Dipper singing like Bing Crosby.
