Furry BBQ Potluck on Sunday, January 29th
13 years ago
Hi there,
Mark your calendars and make your requests for time off as the AZ Furs are returning once again to Margaret T. Hance park for a fantastic BBQ Potluck! The reservation has just been made and I've got the permit ready, so get your costumes ready and start planning for a fun filled Sunday afternoon at the park. : )
What: AZ Furry BBQ/Potluck (ALL age friendly, and Fursuit friendly)
When: Sunday January 29th from Noon-7:00 pm
Where: Margaret T. Hance park, 67 West Culver Street, Phoenix, AZ, at the West Ramada by the Playground.
RSVP: Please reply here if you are attending and specify what you are bringing to the potluck. Or you can post to our thread here at azfurs.com > http://www.azfurs.com/viewtopic.php.....p=17121#p17121
Please note: This is a BBQ/POTLUCK which means you need to bring food and/or beverage with you to share with the others. I realize there may be missed items, so it would be awesome is folks could bring related items. For example, if you're bringing charcoal, please bring lighter fluid. If you're bringing burgers, please bring buns.
Additional details:
1. Because this is a city park, there is no alcohol, music, or water balloons allowed per Phoenix Regulations.
2. Our Ramada is on the west side next to a grassy field and a playground, so bring your Frisbees, badminton equipment and whatever other games you want.
3. Dogs are okay so long as they are on leash per Phoenix regulations.
4. Fursuits are perfectly fine and I highly recommend them. : )
5. We need to be out by 7:00pm and the sun sets at 6 PM, so we should start cleaning up around sunset. It is okay to hang around after cleanup, but the park needs to be entirely cleaned up by 7, so please volunteer to help. If you volunteer to help with cleanup, I’ll see about drawing you a free sketch of your character afterwards.
6. The light rail also runs right next to the park, so public transport should be a bit easier for those that need to use it.
7. I would love to do a group photoshoot with the fursuiters and maybe everyone else too, time permitting.
I look forward to getting this event going and will be posting up more details are we get closer to the BBQ.
Any questions please let me know. : )

By the way, I highly recommend taking pictures of *everyone* who goes to the meets, not just the fursuiters. Fursuiters are awesome, but I've noticed that at a lot of the meets, they get all of the attention. Everyone is a fur, not just them, so why not show everyone having a good time?
As for taking photos of everyone, its tough, especially when someone shows up for a couple of minutes, then leaves and wonders why they didn't end up in a photo. I don't want to bother everyone constantly with the camera, so I just cover the more interesting parts of the meets. What I'm looking for are artistic shots with good composition that highlight the fun and spontaneous nature of the events.
There are more photographers besides myself now, and I think that's awesome. :)
