I really hate my family.
Okay, let me explain. Sometimes, some relatives a little farther South come over to visit. These guys already hate me because when I was ten I said I couldn't eat our Christmas dinner because they put a little Jesus near our dinner table. Not only that, but they continue to call me an atheist, even though I've told them just because I do not have a religion, that does not make me an atheist. I tried to tell them that it's a bit silly that someone HAS to have a religion in the first place. So I am on bad terms with them, mostly the adults, because I just seem like a "bad egg" to them.
But those stories I will not tell you. This story just pissed me off.
So they came over. As usual, I stayed in my room so as not to cause family issues. I go up front to grab some money when my mom called me to go pick up the food she ordered, and there they are, looking to see what is on demand with my family. So we come across All American Muslim, which, by the title of the show, it is pretty obvious what the show is about, no? So one of my relatives, a distant cousin, just says aloud:
"Like those terrorists need a television show."
That was completely uncalled for. Then this same cousin (Teresa) goes on and on how all Muslims are nothing but terrorists, sandniggers and just dragging on and on and on. My mother knew I was ready to snap, and my sister was just shocked. My dad was trying to be nice, trying to tell her to shut the fuck up but doing it nicely. You know, saying "Now, now...." and things like that. I was trying to not let it bug me. I was almost out the door when Teresa went "Right, ya'll know what I am talking about? Garrett, don't leave when we're having a family discussion."
My mother, sister, and father can tell I am ready to snap. My father's trying to tell me no with his eyes, my mother mouths it, and my sister shakes her head no before I even say anything. I try to tell Teresa I have nothing to say, and her and her siblings disagree and goad me on, teasing me for my lack of religion and how I'm just an atheist in denial. So I just ask them one question.
"How would you be acting if the September 11th attacks were done by Catholic or Christian extremists?"
All of them laughed, not really answering the question, just saying Catholics or Christians wouldn't do that. So time to educate them~!
"Timothy McVeigh was a Christian terrorist. He detonated a truck bomb in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. So why is it Muslims are treated like they are the only terrorists? Would you attack your own religion if the bombings were done by a Catholic?"
They all then say Timothy doesn't practice Christian virtues because he blew up a truck and building.
"Who cares? I can attack Timmy's religion because he blew up a building. You're being totally unfair. The religion is not even an aspect of the people who caused September 11th, it's not even the main aspect. The religion is not the thing you should latch onto and attack. Because if you do, you are being a filthy hypocrite because you wouldn't attack the terrorist's religion if it was yours! The people like you, who persecute people blindly are why shows like All American Muslim are made, they play on your ignorance and try to use television to show you how stupid you are."
So she sits there and preaches her freedom of speech and how I should respect her.
"You don't deserve my respect. I do not have to respect you because you are older, my relative, or just a guest in my house. You say the stupidest things all the damn time, why the fuck should I respect you?! Respect is something to be earned, and you have done no work in earning my respect, you've done the opposite, you've apparently worked to LOSE my respect. I am shocked you don't understand that I am using my freedom of speech to tell you how annoying you are when you open your fucking mouth. You and your brothers and sisters are amazing. I knew the stereotype is the South can be really ignorant, but you guys proved to me that you fit the stereotype, I just thought you were just a little close-minded. Do you even know how hard it is for Muslims to struggle in an America filled with morons like you, that hate them because of an attack done by the crazies in their religion? No! You're too busy giving them the evil eye and getting your weapons ready! You are the same people who bitched about the mosque being built near Ground Zero even though an oil spill happened! But noooo, it's all about the mosque being built near Ground Zero! Look on a map, dumbass, there are Muslim facilities already around Ground Zero, and Muslims died in the 9/11 attacks, IT WAS CALLED THE WORLD TRADE CENTER!!!!"
I stopped to breathe, obviously angry. So they all went and got the food my mom ordered for them and left. I had to pick up the food my mom ordered for us separately because of their drama.
Is it wrong to think that I shouldn't love these people just because I'm related to them? Is it wrong the way I reacted? I knew I let my anger get the better of me, but I seriously wanted these people out of my house and life.

I love you.
This is precisely why I hate living in the South. I speak Arabic, I respect Muslims and Islam, I've read the Qur'an in Arabic. And yet everyone proceeds to tell me that they're filthy savages and their religion is nothing but violence. So, I simply point them to the Old Testament, such as the book of Joshua (you know, slaughter every man, woman and child, rip open pregnant woman and dash the unborn children on the rocks, and taking virgin women as prizes). And you know what? They simply ignore it.
Yet most people wonder why I hold higher (and I mean much higher) respect for the average Muslim over the average "Christian."
religion is nothing more than an assumption created by those afraid to lose hold of their reality.
your fine now go and have some pork and do the humpty dance
rock on my friend
Oh, also. Zombie chapter 3 is up, read it!
Who needs then, people are much better off by them self’s anyway, take me for example, as soon as I graduated form collage and worked at a dead end job I saved up enough money to live on my own I just left without a single word to anyone…. Well I left a letter saying I was leaving but I didn’t tell anyone where I was going Plus I quit my dead end job and found a better one, where I moved to.
So for the Past 5 years I’ve been living happily by myself without any form of contact with my Ex-family, this my friend its true freedom.
Ps
As for religion…. It’s all pretty much the same bull chap! Same story different version.
I like some of my family, and I have Jewish relatives. They are soooo Jewish. The funky hat, the language, the style, they scream JEWISH with every step they take and every breath they make. They are much more tolerable than these idiots.
As for Jewish relations…. Very lovely coulter and with such a rich heritage and I do mean “rich” I just never like there taste in food.
Well hang in there, for a bit longer, there will come a time in your life when you will never have to see Those idiots “as you’ve stated” ever again.
Jews are so much more tolerant.
See it’s working already.
