Writing Project

So its been a while but one of the more memorable episodes of season seven of the Simpsons was an episode called 22 Short Stories About Springfield. For those that didn't see it or don't watch the Simpsons basically what it was was a series of stories about different characters in the town of Springfield and the stuff that goes on. None was longer than a couple of minutes and tended to jump around even if one story tended to lead well into another.
So what's that have to do with anything? Quite frankly about 4 days before Valentines Day I got the idea to do something like this for the Homecoming Dance since that was the next theme. However, by the time I really kinda figured out what I wanted to do it was, alas, to late for me to feel comfortable trying to rally people around to do it. However, that doesn't mean it can't be done. Its just a matter picking out the right timing and subject and that subject is about a month away, so decided I'd try to organize things around now. What is that thing I'm talking about? Spring Break!
Yes, March is coming and that means Spring Break for a lot of students and such would be no less different for everyone's favorite school kids. So I'm thinking that once spring comes up we should look into getting something for that going; I know some folks already have some things planned.
More to the point what I'd like to do is get as many people as I can contribute to a project of sorts...a writing project. The idea is that anyone who wants to contribute can send in a short story: Short being defined as no more than 2 pages, shorter works too. Write up about a scenario, a brief scene that happens to your character(s) and send it in and we'll try to get it edited together into a coherent story of sorts. If you want to use other people's character(s) please get permission to use them. And make sure you clear what happens to them with the creator.
I'm hoping we can get at least a dozen different stories from a dozen different authors but I don't plan to cap it. I also encourage any artists who want to flex their writing muscle or have more capabilities than they give themselves credit for (You know who you are!) to contribute as well.
So please, let me know if you're interested. As a means of helping to try and organizing things a bit the setting will be the Orange Islands: think Polynesian type setting.
And lastly, have fun with it! I hope to hear from a lot of folks for this. If not, well, we'll put it together anyway.
edit: Oh yeah, and cut off is March 20th for submissions so I can hopefully get it up by the end of the month.
