Get to know Izzy better
I dare ye!
Ok, here's the game. Ye see I sometimes suspect folks don't know me nearly as well as they think they do. So... ye ask me a question, and I answer as best I can (it should be about me, if tis not, then tis up to me if I want to answer or not). But then! I get to ask ye a question back! It can be the one ye asked me, but it might not be, so be careful!

My question: How does a dragon-kitty come about?
ummm why red hair?
Why a dwagon?
What kind of stuff are you writing?
Whereabouts on the internet do you prowl?
What do you do with your time, when you have a little extra?
What, exactly, is "Izixs" other than physics without a few phonemes?
To me, dragons represent both a sense of freedom (flying mostly, but also their general mystery keeps them separated from worldly things that would chain them down) and a concentration of power towards a perpetually self improving ideal (dragons might take a while to grow up, but tis worth the wait). And tis what I feel most comfortable as.
>What kind of stuff are you writing?
Mostly sci-fi-ish things. Though sometimes political shenanigans.
>Whereabouts on the internet do you prowl?
Here, the Furry Federation, and a few other places (such as the tavern, dailykos, Super-Earth) when the mood strikes me.
>What do you do with your time, when you have a little extra?
Writing, guitar hero, getting to know awesome people better, gaming of various sorts, conventioning, and hopefully coming this spring biking.
>What, exactly, is "Izixs" other than physics without a few phonemes?
Tis not a name derived from physics, but more a late night in my youth when I was pondering writing about an avatar in a story. A minor character mostly. But it felt to fit me so it stuck.
And to ye... some mostly similar questions:
Why an otter?
How did ye find the tavern?
Whereabouts the internet do ye prowl?
What do ye do with ye extra time?
What is the origin of your name?
An otter because someone assigned it to me (thought I'd be a good otter), and I really don't mind. I didn't get to choose a lot of my lots in life, and I don't mind my sona being part of that.
Found the tavern from something I picked up during an astro conversation, I think. Checked it out, and I visit once in awhile (more often nowadays)
INTERNET: I hang with the Define Cynical bunch's IRC, and a few flash games. Otherwise...not very many places, nowadays.
TIME: Writing is fun, I think about things from how to solve a Rubik's cube to questioning why I'm living my life, a bit of calligraphy here and there, learning about things in general, snoozing :3 a buttton of minor hobbies like coin collecting,, learnin how to fix computers (from fixing the intertubes to resoldering power jacks to once baking a laptop with successful results), making DDR simfiles. I frequent a few webcomics now and again (freefall, the whiteboard, xkcd, TACC, oglaf (NSFW) ). Lots of time goes to uni and household duties, though.
My name? Take my irl name Travis and use every other letter.
MORE QUESTIONS
why chocolate mlik. WHY CHOCOLATE MLIK
Are dragons your favorite critter? What's #2, #3, and #5?
Why furry? ("why not" isn't what I'm looking for)
That is so Retcon
Because its delicious in short. Some people consume alcohol. Some people coffee. My vice of choice is the chocolate nectar that is the dark milk.
>Are dragons your favorite critter? What's #2, #3, and #5?
Yes, I'd have to say so. #2 would probably be raccoon (If I wasn't a dragon I'd be one!), skunks are 3, and five would probably be deer though I can't recall ever having to think that far down the list before so that one might change if asked in the distant future.
>Why furry? ("why not" isn't what I'm looking for)
Furry, the fandom, the community, and everything about it is a curious nexus of creativity and passion. A world where people from all sectors of the world can come together, set aside the normal differences that drive us apart, to enjoy something truly wild. Stories and ideas that are difficult to express in our modern world in the usual avenues of communication are made easier by various aspects of the fandom, from the fact that funny animal characters are easier to draw than life like humans all the way to bouncing fursuiters letting their inner energy loose without the constraints of 'oh gosh, I don't want to be embarrassed by being spastic!'. So overall, I see it as both personally enjoyable but also a good thing for the world we live in. We may all be individuals, but the communities we build together are what makes us better.

So... what's the story about the retcon the duck mentioned?
Are otters your favorite critter? What's your #2, #4, and #6?
Have ye ever had a fursuiting experience and if so, how was it?
Not a bad choice of critters! I adore coon masks, and the floofiness of skunks is quite incredible. The girl who did my larger otr badge is part deer, so I'm both used to it and aware of how awesome they can be!
You share a lot of my views about the fandom - sometimes I just want to spaz out and pretend I'm adorable without all the social yuck that comes with letting myself go. I could write an essay about it (or rather, I could show you my essay about it if I thought it was done).
About the retcon, I must admit it's a bit of a long story. Now, this is a story all about how my nick got flipped and turned upside down (therefore preserving its original rotation) so I'd like to take a moment just sit right there I'll tell you all about my nick, answering " 'Tai' came from WHERE?"
eeeeeeeeeeeee (do do do, do) (do, do do do, do) (do, do do do, do) do. do. do. DO
iiiiiiiin west philadelphia astro was hatched
for some reason, about my name, he was quite attached.
first i was a "Pokepok", a pokéfan, in pokéclans, a mash of sounds that got their start up in Japan,
then a couple years pass, and my hipster turns on
i move to newer things: namely digimon
i take the name of the lead and later his hair! And that's the answer to the question of " 'Tai' came from WHERE?"
I carried the name, till a half-score ago,
when I was asked once again by a duck named Astro
If anything he saw that Tai was like Travis and just had to share:
"It all makes sense now! Tai came from there!"
eeeeeeeeeeeee (do do do, do) (do, do do do, do) (do, do do do, do) (do, DOdo do do, do)
I
pulled
up the nick list on my screen I had made
and deleted that cuss like a duck that got spayed
and now you all know the current state of affair,
that I was a nerd, and that Tai came from there.
(
If you didn't get it from the song, my first nick was pokepok when I first discovered the internet, just a bit of playing with the word "pokemon" for things like e-mail and signing up for pokemon clan sites. A few years later, I was too cool for pokemon and switched to Tai Kamiya from Digimon, who has biiiiiig hair (my irl long hair is a lot more recent than this). I kept this name for a loooong time for continuity, if anything.
Then, about three years ago, Astro asked me about where my name came from. I hesitated, and then he said something like "Oh wait, it's just every other letter of your real name" and I was all "Ha. ha. yeah. that." At that point, I was making a list of new nicknames; I had a bunch of others for alt accounts, but I wanted a new main nickname just because I didn't want to admit I liked Digimon to everyone who asked where my name came from. I figured, "Hey, I could use the TrAvIs explanation to avoid that problem AND not have to change my name everywhere!"
The Tai backronyming is allowable since I'm a biologist. The B-cells from your immune system were named after the cells were isolated in a >Bursa< in birds, but later they discovered they were made in >Bone< marrow, and kept the name.
Also Astro has a female duck sona. Spay totally works.
)
BACK TO YOUR QUESTIONS: Otters are NOT my favorite critter. I'd say they get #2, #4 would probably be dragons, and arbitrarily #6 would be a magpie just because I rarely list them out past four.
SUITING EXPERIENCE ^______^ Mostly involves me handling for suiters and wishing I had one (but without, you know, having to pay for one). I put on a suit head once, Tumbles was it's name. A short canineish thing, with the suit made for someone 5 feet tall (5 inches shorter than me).
And no worries about digimon et al. I'm not hater. I never got into such, but I have a good number of friends who did. And I'm mostly just like, ah ok whatever. Or sometimes hey that looks neat.
And engines can be angry because they lack friends. That's why they roar.
Would you like to go to the moon someday?
Will you be attending AC?
How many catapults have you built?
Do you use a smart phone?
What brand of headphones do you use the most?
Have you ever fursuited?
Do you plan to have a fursuit made?
I think I may know the answer to this one but...
Why lightening? :P
Don't know yet. Depends on work and availability. I might try for just the weekend centric parts as I can drive out that way now.
>How many catapults have you built?
0, but I have helped build one trebuchet.
>Do you use a smart phone?
My phone isn't very smart. But it can sorta connect to the internet... sometimes...
>What brand of headphones do you use the most?
Logitech? Just got them actually. Figured late night explosions might not go well with the new roomies.
>Have you ever fursuited?
Alas I have not as of yet... But I should.
>Do you plan to have a fursuit made?
Not sure quite yet. Maybe?
>I think I may know the answer to this one but...
>Why lightening? :P
Beyond it being awesome? If ye mean for me studies, t'was mostly random chance that I got in on a project on it. As for me being an electric dragon? (which I was before that random chance of studies!) Because fire is a tad over done, electricity is amazing, and I have a plausible idea on how me breath works.
Will ye be attending AC or any other con in the nearish future?
How many potato guns have ye built?
Are ye enjoying college life so far?
Mac or windows or linux?
Have ye ever fursuited?
Are ye getting to know a number of folks in the community?
Why fennec? (especially given what I know of ye more established identity)
Purchased my registration to AC 2012 already!
>>How many potato guns have ye built?
Two. One hairspray powered, and the other alcohol.
>>Are ye enjoying college life so far?
Yes! I've already had a Prof. buy me Pizza!
>>Mac or windows or linux?
Mac as much as I can (UNIX/X11/XQuarts FTW!!!). If I need to run something else that dose not work in Mac, I'll Boot up Linux or *gulp* Windows...
>>Have ye ever fursuited?
As a bird for my school mascot, a dog for the animal shelter, Officer McGruff for the police department, and as a Ghostly Mummy Anubis partial I made myself for Halloween.

Yes, I have a bunch of
almost-professionalvolunteer of experience. Now I'm getting one made for Helix :D
>>Are ye getting to know a number of folks in the community?
Yes, I've met a bunch. We now are the unofficial "Fur Squad" :P
It makes for some good times.
>>Why fennec? (especially given what I know of ye more established identity)
Although I'm completely crazy about dragons and I can personally identify with them,
Fennec Foxes have giant ears, and I think that's adorable when you combine that with my love for music composition.
I also love fursuiting and had trouble visualizing my self wearing a dragon fursuit.
Did I mention, Fennecs are extremely cute? XD
EUUUUURRRRRRRGHHHHH
