Honestly while it's a shame this happened you can't really blame the driver in this. It's no ones fault just a bad happenstance that the dog got out. I hope it pulls through.

I don't want to blame said driver, but they didn't notice at all. As sad as it is to say this, there's a sudden bump when you run over something. I would think it would be cause to stop (though most probably just assume it was just some box or something).

the hole point is you should not run over ANYTHING. the only time I bumped someone was in a parking lot he ran behind me wearing black in the dark.
now I know a Husky is not one of the most visible type of Dog in the world but honestly... the guy should have stopped and checked his car.

I agree with badkittyamy. It's not cool to demonize the driver (not his fault, and the law will agree) or the vets (they have to make a living and surgery of any kind is not cheap). Everyone's energy should be spent on doing what's best for the dog.

IMO you are lucky that the car didnt get damaged because otherwise you would had to take care of that damage too since the dog is your responcibility.

Your reasons are quite uncalled for. What do you think it would cost to fix you up after an accident maybe add another 0. Those people are doing their job and sadly everything in this worl seems to run on money, be glad you can get a payment plan like that.

Nevertheless it still sucks that the dog got hit and the costs are so high.

YES they do... but the deposit is what I need to get started... *sigh* I had only $250 in account... what I received from the unemployment insurance I've been receiving... The x-rays was $150 and there is another fee for the serum they gave him and the treatment while he stays there.... another $200.... that's $350 I didn't have on the moment... they accepted the $150 for today... but by tomorrow I need to borrow the other $150.... That's without counting The $2,600 for his surgery... so for deposit only I need to cover the emergency treatment plus surgery deposit.... total... $1,150... its insane, they should lowered it and make up a good payment plan...

I'll try to see if for tomorrow They could lowered that deposit fee, it really is too much... T__T

As a suggestion, you could try doing what I did. I don't know if you'll be approved or not, but see if your vet takes something called care credit. It's a credit card designed just for these purposes. It really was a life saver for my pets, and it works great in these situations since you can pay it off in smaller increments over time.

Not sure if this is an option for you, but when my rat had cancer and needed surgery, the vet pointed me towards this: http://www.carecredit.com/
It would depend on if your vet is willing to take it or not, though. But it allowed us to pay the vet upfront and gave us something like 18 months to pay off the bill without having to pay interest.
And it sounds like you may already have looked, but since it might be a few days before you can get your dog into surgery anyway, I would try to call other vets. My cat had to have emergency surgery for a bladder problem, and because we had to take him to a overnight vet, it was close to $2k, but if we had been able to take him to the regular vet, it would have been something like $600.

Yeah, it is a credit card, so they do run your credit. :\

Might depend more on your credit score than your employment status, though. I know someone who is unemployed, but has kept up with her bills and has been able to maintain her credit.

You can write up your whole story, put photos of the dog, and maybe even a scan of the vet bill or the estimate (I hope that they gave you some paperwork). I highly recommend putting up the bill/estimate so people can be assured that what they're giving to is legit.
Also you don't have to post your paypal address here or give it to individuals, it goes straight to your paypal via the chipin page.
One of my friends had a very sick ferret, he put up all of those things and it was a quick, easy way to get donations, and people can easily pass around a link to it to assure that it gets to more people.

You should ay least apply and try. Some places are more lenient than others.

I'll help spread the word but please please in the future realise that as a breed huskies are escape artists. To prevent things like this happening again you've really got to pump up the responsibility and keep the dog inside crated or find another situation to were it can't get out.

he was leached... he learned how to open it... And dug his way out... he did it when no one was looking... smart dog...

Which is why i suggest keeping him inside and crate training from here on out, leashes are not adequate in tethering a dog overnight for any breed much less a husky.

I hate leaching my pets but he never learned not to destroy thing or pee every corner... couldn't have him inside :( soon the house was gonna be inhospitable. I even Hand made him a house outside to be in. we have a huge yard... I don't understand that urge of roaming the streets...

It's a husky it's what they're bred to do, no matter how nice your house/doghouse/yard is they want to get out and run. It's basic husky 101 behaviour, if you get him a crate he can't pee around the house or destroy thing as well as keeping him from being able to escape the yard. Two popular styles are

Why did you get a dog before researching the breed's behaviorism as well as training methods? It's INCREDIBLY EASY to house train most pets. It's pretty obvious you didn't want to take responsibility for his behavior and you continue to not want to take responsibility for the accident that was, for all intents and purposes, your own fault.

And why do you have such a large breed dog that'd take quite a bit of money to take care by itself when you don't have a job? (Not having a job should make it that much easier to housetrain too).

If this dog is as rambunctious and as much of an escape artist as you say, I hope you consider rehoming him with an owner that is more equipped to handle his exercise, environment, and training needs. It may be the fault of jobs/economy, but if you can't care for an animal, you can't care for it, and it would be better off with someone who can. I'm rooting for you to get the money to fix him up. But, this is not the first animal that this has happened to in your care.

If you really Paid that amount, they would give u a Receipt with all of the Information and name of the Procedure, If u can take a Picture of a Dog then u can Take a Picture of the Paperwork....

Notice that he says "I don't have recent pictures of him" in the description but Photo information(EXIF data of the pic) says "Date and Time: 2012:01:25 14:49:09", that's the date and time when the photo was taken. If that isn't recent pic, then what is?

For future refrence even if the person drove off after hitting a dog the fault wouldn't be their's. If anything they, and police, would blame the owner of the dog since it wasn't secured in it's home and thus let it roamed even if he did escape. Sucks that he drove off instead of checked on'em but dogs aren't people and alot are not going to stop and look, unless they fucking give two shits or love animals, only to get bitched at by the owner's for accidently running over the dog.

I understand what people mean by saying its not entirely the driver's fault. Be he hit and ran... and you know what? I saw someone once who ran over a chow chow for mere fun, some people are evil... I'm telling you I SAW WITH MY OWN EYES. She was laying down by the side walk... jut laying there... now, there were no cars in the whole area... why would he get up on the sidewalk and ran over the poor dog?.... who's fault would it be?

That there is diffrent, no doubt they intended to hurt the dog if they came up on the sidewalk. With that they could defintly be charged and MORE so because it would also be endangering a person.

Hopefully them bitche's got caught because it's one thing to do it by accident another to be a fucking dick and purposly try to hurt something for no reason. An don 't mention it.

it was about 7am when the howl woke us up. the trash men were right in front of my house ATM, They saw the whole thing... The car never pressed the breaks.

If the car never hit the brakes or even stopped after he hit the dog then that is considered animal cruelty, you COULD take this to court if you find out who the man is, next time the trash guys come get the details of the car and give the info to the police, and if it isnt in time well at least justice will be served

hmm funny thing about this incident 3 years back. There is a new development of apartments in front of the house I used to live there. That person who did that was the same Jerk who beat up a poor Yorky and toss the creature down a third floor... yup, the same ass who ran over the chow chow laying on a sidewalk when there were no cars around. This is an evil person who is still free. After the yorky incident he went to jail for less than 3 weeks. I just got word, that the car who can over Dahnte live in the same apartment.. hmmm... coincidence?

The puppy I talked about 3 years ago is now fully healed, I did it my self,, took care of him, he is in a good home now happy and healthy.

though I might want to suggest, if these kind of moments keep happening or to keep them from happening again is to get a underground electric dog fence. My little pup kept going out to the streets like a magnet (thankfully though I managed to get her before she would get too close though) but that habit quickly broke when I put in the electric fence since she decided that getting close to the roads isn't worth the shock

not really, I've hear of it for a while. he a burned CD and gave it to me. as for the proof, there are the invoices in my scraps plus a series of pictures in one submission of me picking him up at the vet. Everything is almost alright, the panic and the worst has passed, I still thank you for your time and comprehension. I won't Accept any more commission or donations for the time being since the vet said there is a chance he might not need surgery anymore. Dahnte is responding well to his treatment.
