[Rumor Control] Banning Art Styles/Genres

Thanks to a faux screenshot floating around, there are quite a few rumors that FA will be banning Sonic, feral, Pokemon and Digimon* art. This rumor is FALSE, and there is no truth to it. At all. Whatsoever. The faux screenshot was created as an attack against an admin, nothing more. None of the comments made EVER appeared on the site.
We have NO PLANS to remove any content/art style from FA. End of story. I can not stress this enough. Again, we are not, in any way, shape or form, discussing removal or prohibiting any further content or styles.
When it comes to drawn art on FA, there a handful of basic rules in the AUP which applies to it: it must be drawn by you/for you, don't steal, don't harass, don't draw cub porn, tag your art correctly and adhere to the Standards of Quality. It's not a lot, and we have no plans to add in anything else at this time.
If you hear anybody spreading this rumor please feel free to link them to this journal. Further, if you have concerns/questions about something you may have heard... please do not hesitate to ask me. I'll let you know.

didn't know much of the users were asking about that.
Also I had sonic art deleted that had censor bars even over anything adult AND got a 3 day suspension for even posting it, because the admin said he KNEW what was behind the censor bars, total psychic no doubt.

Seriously, making a fake screenshot is not that hard. I could whip one up in an hour, tops.
I can do it on MSPaint in just 5 minutes.
Nothing short of a notary-witness seeing over your shoulder can be proof that anything digital is real or not faked/edited.

good ways to fake one : save page and edit the html with notepad. don't touch the rest, respect the original code and formatting. don't forget to include the CSS file or the page setup would be all breuzgortshified. reopen on a browser and make sure to paste the url. also make sure the url is not reacheable or leads to a 404. or better, a 403. they are hiding the facts !
or if you can't, use mspaint, it uses windows's cleartype engine for the font's antialiasing, but not the same vertical spacing. you need a pixel precision to place your text.
As others have stated, it takes a few minutes to whip up a convincing screenshot. You can make anybody say whatever you want, do whatever you want or try to make them appear worse than not.
This is prime reason admins are told NOT to ever consider a screenshot as evidence. Unless an admin can verify it first hand we do not take action.

Had i saw that rumor before this journal, that would of worried me considering my fursona's been a Pokemon since May 2011 & also that i draw a lot of Pokémon/Pokémorph art.
Someone's always gotta start bullshit eh?
Take countless forms of digital art that were considered nothing more than colorful abstract arts, which were banned, like Fractals.
And various other forms of art and even speech that is not breaking any laws or offending any people anywhere on the planet, were banned at some point.
Dragoneer, this is something that sounds very real and probable with the history of FA and its regulations, which frequently change.
Heck, I still remember countless staff members whom abused people and said downright horrific things and even joined trolls in flaming people cause they deemed art pathetic and the quality of child's hand, let alone what was said to people based on their race and religion...
Until FA has at least 5 years under its belt without any such problem like those I mentioned above being frequent, people will always believe this stuff, whether its true, like what I mentioned, or not, like what you are now informing us about.

2) Buy 100 mcdonalds 1 dollar "Baked apple pie"'s. Not all at once, maybe 1 a day for some of your lifetime. Or maybe all of them at once. 3) buy a tin of paint and paint yourself blue and video take yourself playing drums and upload it to youtube and then get sick and sue the blueman group for filling your mind with their blue quivery music. It's a long shot but i bet you could probably buy a few tins of paint and do this to every paint covered drum group out there. Money in the bank old son money in the bank.
4) Use that 100 dollars to bribe another website to ban something YOU don't like. Lets start something here, dragoneer. You could be part of something big.
5) buy a dog.

No offense intended, but I'm honestly not surprised people believed it with the Sonic Furor at the same time and the fact that you have a staff member who is rather impulsive and has a history of announcing stuff before you do.
Who ever did this played on that. Oldest rule in the book, even if someone didn't do it, if it's remotely plausible and can be couched in a way they'd do it if they did it, people will believe it.

The characters have been around long enough that, even though they may not look it, are of legal age.
Would you tell someone that suffers from a non-aging disease that they can't do anything "adult" orientated? I knew a guy that had a disease that prevented him from aging properly. He was 38 years old and looked like he was 16. You would think a disease like that would be nice to have, but his internal organs were maturing, while his outer body wasn't. It caused him a lot of problems. He also said it was fun to go to bars and order liqueur, then when they carded him, they thought the ID was fake.
Most people don't want their character to show off their true selves. I'm 320 pounds and I don't want my wolf to look the same way. I keep him as close to resembling me as possible, except he has a six pack where I have a keg. You can't hold it against people for not wanting their character to show age.
Hell, Mario's debut was in 1981 as Jumpman (his own 'sona), and had a mustache. So we can assume he was about 20, which would make him close to 50 now. Although, you can find other sites that debate it further.
I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous argument that holds no water. You're saying Sonic was 15 when the game came out, but now still ages like a regular person? Technically, wouldn't that make him 1 year old when it came out then? You can't instantly be born at 15, then age regularly from there.

Go to the Character page. Sonic's current age is still listed, by Sega, as 15. Tails is still listed as only 8 years old.

I'm sorry, but that's an utterly ridiculous argument to make to justify porn of a 15 and an 8 year old character. If you want/need/must have porn of children and cubs go to Inkbunny.
If Sega says that the character is frozen at that particular age, then so be it. That is their character, they have that right. But the character is STILL more than 20 years old, regardless. The way I am trying to explain it is that if someone chooses to draw Sonic in a mature situation, it is up to the artist as to whether or not they are being drawn as "of-age" or "under-age." I was trying to add a bit more logic to it by offering a non-biased opinion.
If you take that right away from the artist by saying that you are determining what the age is of the character that they are drawing, that is just wrong. You might as well tell them "you should never draw again."

A friend of mine was very upset and worried.
Apparently an FA group on FaceBook is leaking false rumors lately.
We don't allow /real/ pictures to be uploaded which may contain users doing illegal substances. Why? We have no way of verifying what they are or aren't doing. People smoke, not problem. People post pictures of themselves smoking. Again, not a problem. People posting pictures of themselves smoking with 420 signs, leaves and joking about doing pot (or outright admitting it) does BECOME a problem.
It can puts us (and the user) in a bad situation. The "medical marijuana" out only applies to a very few states and places, NONE of which are where FA is hosted.
I don't care what people smoke. They can smoke hash, crack, snort coke and drop ex for all I care. I honestly don't care what people do/put in their bodies (illegal or not). The only thing I ask is that they not post it to FA. The Federal government, however, does care... and therein lay the problem.
None of the above applies to drawn art though. Why? It's not REAL.

Serious question, not being sarcastic or anything. I wasn't admitting to doing anything illegal. But saying "this person got arrested" is basically talking about something illegal being done, even though the consequences of the actions have been taken care of and everything's closed up now, and such...
"He got arrested for smoking weed." is different than "I smoke weed every day" or "Here's a picture of me lighting up a bowl". More of an "events of things that happened" -vs- "admitting to illegal activity".
Feral art is pretty much the worst thing ever (at least on this site).
