Everyone has talent.
What's rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place it leads.
Art is the answer my friends. your body will age and die, no matter what you do. you could be a fitness fag, but all you’re accomplishing is dying slower. immortality lies in paint or in clay or in words. what are you really going to do faggot? play basketball? good job, say you make it to the NBA (yeah right, white boy). there’s a fat chance in hell you’ll be *the best*. and you want to be *the best*, don’t you? if you don’t - you’re dead already. in art you can be the best. it doesn’t mean the most technically skilled, or the most popular, or the most 2deep4anyone. but that thing you dream about that inside you, that urge to create - what the Greeks called Eros, and they didn’t just mean fucking - no one will ever see what you see in there, no one will ever feel what you feel when you imagine that journey or hear that song! die, and it dies with you - but commit it to form, to page or disc or stone or canvas, and it - YOU - are immortal.
Art is the answer, my friends. work your day jobs, take your practical classes. but at the end of the day when it’s quiet and you’re alone, create the thing you always dream of, because it’s the ONE THING in history that no one else has ever dreamed, or ever will again. it is yours and yours alone, now and forever; you are not just *the best* but *the only*. All you have to do is claim it.

And all snide remarks aside, tell me this ain't true.

damn dude, that actually hit me pretty hard.
I did draw a whole ago but gav up when seeing how crappy it looked to others, guess I gotta be open minded for once about it.
really stop me from beating the means?
Does my height and shape
mold my future
if I can't grow up to be what I dreamt
do I daydream and pretend to be
who says that what I don't represent the norm
mean I can't be all I can be
my body can be broken and batter
but my will tells me I can achieve
through hard work and discipline
I can make all haters believe
yes there are short falls
pits I will fail to escape
but if I gave up after that I never had what it takes
You can be blind and see
and you be mute and sing
you nobody that raises to a king
these are our dreams
but dream amount nothing
if you can fight for what you hope
then you better start something
you can fall back and suck up
I rather be a fool and stuckup
and achieve for my dream
and reach with all my might
the only one that tells me I can't
is me and well maybe Black Dynamite
But good art lives on when our bones are dust. Your great-grandchildren will know a lot about you when they see the art you've drawn and the stories you've written. People still adore Shakespeare and Michelangelo centuries after they left the mortal world. Art adds meaning to life, and a way to touch hearts after we've passed on. It's one of the noblest pursuits, and a life well-lived.
a la Family Guy
thats kinda my answer when some R-tard tells me "why dont you study something serius?" when I tell them I study music >,>
also, when you said the words "macbook" and "starbucks" I thought it had something to do with a movie script @_@
I'd also like to add something else to attain immortality: Through teaching (doesn't matter what you teach, but art, languages and sciences are a sure shots). When you educate people (education =/= indoctrination) you make them ready for the future, helping them to fulfill whichever goal they want to achieve and building humankind block by block. They, at their time, will talk about their teacher and how they were inspired by his/her words and examples. You now live in the future generations and have created a legacy, congradulations!
Also, you are a snob :V
OmG HiPsTeR.
XD
I agree with you 100% man. PLUS, art isn't just limited to immortality. It shapes and defines our culture. The Greeks and Romans had their stone monuments. In World War 2, artists created posters to encourage our troops. Even animated shorts like the Looney Toons carry a piece of American culture, even cartoons from the 90s like Animaniacs and Tiny Toons.
Art is the most powerful gift in all creation. Which is ironic in the sense that creation comes from art.
I feel fucking inspired now man. Thanks for the peptalk :)
Haven't read something this insightful in a long time, well done.
0r0, you need to draw yourself in hipstermode now X3
Also - did you know that $4 'cup' of coffee you bought, equals out to about $147 per pound of coffee when bought at retail. And for that same pound, they paid some poor Somali/Ethiopian farmer roughly .11 cents for the pound of beans? The starbucks executives would love to thank you for paying for their multiple homes, hookers, and Leer jets and vacations your paying for!
People will remember me for my porn.
Do you hear me?
GOD IS TALKING TO ME THROUGH MY PORN!!!!!
...Like we view the sixties and wonder where our hovercars are.
He played opposite Micheal Jordan, but was much more proud of what he did later.
We pour our hearts into the work. I don't know how well it survives though. Things tend to linger on with the net, but whether anyone associates it with you later is to be seen.
I sent this to my Art professor. It should be something he will like too. XD
You can't dribble on the court with all dat booty. It's against the rules and regulations of the association.
silly Essui
So following a talent is always commendable but if your talent isn't what you think it is you've wasted your time and you'll never get it back..
