Metal Chicks
^.^ If you can read this, you deserve a cookie ^.^
Okay, a fact about me has drawn comment on more than one occasion. I like Metal. Okay? Yes, I'm a "metal chick". No, I don't have any tats. No, I'm no more pierced than your typical "girl-next-door" type. But I love heavy metal, favor tight denim and black, printed T's, all that jazz. But the reason why I make a point about it now is that I've been coming across lists of metal tracks, and they... well they lack some of the best metal out there. It's like there are three camps.
One that only listens to old hard rock and metal (and consequently thinks that metal is dead), one that listens to only the thrashing, growling stuff that sounds like the devil himself needs an antacid (some of it good, some of it bad, the rest incomprehensible) and lastly, one that gives every band a chance to wow them and listens to a bit of variety (my group).
But from all of these groups, I hear very little about the girls OF metal. The ones that are up there on the stage, belting out the power vocals, streaking up a storm on their 6-strings, or pounding out the heavy beats. So, for the foreseeable future (until I get bored of it), I am devoting a post in this journal every couple of days to these ladies, and their music.
First up is the hottest woman in metal, Simone Simons, the lead singer of symphonic metal group, Epica.

This Gorgeous Redhead is a coloratura mezzo-soprano who can give us haunting melodies or belt out the rock as needed, she is notable for the ability to switch between styles on the fly depending on the moment.
Oh, one last thing. Where's the assumption about metal chicks being dumber than rocks? There isn't one. But I remembered the line from a song.
It's true though. it's never good to be understood by a girl in acid-wash.

Agree with you on all points. Though I am a fan of groups 1 and 3 there. Not into the unintelligible metal. I like the old and I like the new. I can only take so much of it in a sitting now though... my music taste shifted again.

OP
Well like I said, it's not that there's any assumption, it's just that that line stands out in my mind.
