Cartoon of the Week -- The Bollo Caper
General
An ABC Weekend Special from 1985. This was made entirely in the USA by Rick Reinert Pictures. Former Rowrbrazzle member Dave Bennett did many of the layouts and character designs.
The story, based on a book by Art Buchwald, presents a tale that brings to mind 101 Dalmatians (the female villain has been described as a sort of cross between Cruella De Ville and Princess Daphne from Bluth's Dragon's Lair). Conversely, Disney's Rescuers Down Under movie, which came a few years later, may have borrowed elements from this (Bollo and his mate being the last of their species, Bollo being relentlessly pursued by a single-minded hunter, etc.). Fans of Kimba the White Lion may enjoy this as well.

Dave also included cels from this and other Reinert productions in his 'zines for both Rowrbrazzle and Ink Spots.
