Fehrrologist (Updated as new information is discovered.)
I have been given an unprecedented opportunity to study and research a fascinating new creature known only as Fehrr. Now while this occupation I've chosen is considered the most dangerous profession one could possibly have, I've come to find the work to be most interesting and rewarding as I learn more about them than any other person ever has by putting myself in harms way so you don't have to. Below is my findings on this species and as such are nowhere near complete. I will be updating and adding to my findings as they are discovered. Any questions you may have about the species, please ask them and I will do the research to bring you the answers you seek.
1. Race Name(s)
Fehrr, Pronounced as a combination of fair and fear (Fee-air)
2. General Overview
Fehrr are very dangerous creatures with a taste for negative emotions and a penchant for merging with a host to better feed off their emotions while also killing and eating other people. They are considered anywhere from stupid to highly intelligent depending on the host they are attached to and should never be taken lightly. There is good news. Hunters are usually paid to go out to find, kill, or capture them so most people can live a nearly normal life.
3. Personality Traits
Fehrr have, at best, basic personalities when in their non-corporeal forms. But it is in the body of a host that their personalities can shift and change making them more intelligent and cunning. How intelligent they can become is unknown, but it is thought they can become nearly as intelligent as a normal person. They can also talk using the host’s own voice to call out for help usually luring family members to their deaths. They know how to avoid the hunters, how to set traps. They have even been seen laughing at the very hunters trying to kill them. Fehrr also have an intense hatred for members of their own species.
4. Physical Description
No known physical description can be given for their incorporeal existence. However, once in possession of a host, they mutilate and change the body to reflect their savage nature. Common changes are: longer muzzles with sharper teeth, a change’s in eye color, spines/spikes growing out the back between the shoulder blades. The main physical change in the host is color of the fur/skin. The main body of a merged Fehrr is normally black while the markings may vary from color to color. A sketch has been made to show the main physical traits forced on a host's body and can be found here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7495881 while a color chart showing the change in color for the host's markings can be found here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7492665/
(Edit notes 3/23/2012) Fehrr Gender.
While each species and gender have it's own unique traits, it is completely unknown what gender Fehrr really are. As a Fehrr takes over a hosts body the gender traits and sexual organs are absorbed into the body leaving the host completely genderless. Due to lack of hosts surviving extraction of the Fehrr presence from it's body it's still, as of yet, unknown whether or not the sexual organs and traits will return to the host.
5. Relations
Fehrr are considered to be vile and evil creatures and are usually hunted down by people trained mentally and physically to be able to withstand the emotional effects Fehrr have on people. Anyone suffering from depression or becoming overly angry or fearful usually causes concern in those around them. It is said that they have a Fehrr beside them and something must be done quickly to avoid having them taken over.
6. History
There is no hard evidence of when Fehrr came into existence. If rumors are to be believed, then the first Fehrr was created many centuries ago when the hate of everyone was so intense, at such a high point, that it birthed the first Fehrr. Then, over the centuries, they consumed and turned other poor souls into Fehrr increasing their numbers quickly until it was discovered what was happening. NoNow there is equilibrium between normal’s and Fehrr as the normal people have learned to spot the signs and symptoms of someone overtaken by these beasts.
7. Race Lands
Fehrr have no lands they call home. The only home they know is in the body of a host.
8. Race Speed / Physical Strengths
Nothing of their strengths is known about their incorporeal forms. However, while in a host they have taken over completely, much is supposedly known. Strength is increased dramatically to insure the ability of taking down large prey. Likewise their speed is also increased for chasing down said prey and to avoid and escape capture.
9. Magic Ability and Powers
In their non-corporeal state they have the ability to increase the level of negative emotions in a person or group of people in order to make a host suitable for merging. They put a tiny bit of themselves into a person to help seed the negative emotions. In a hosts body however, their penchant for causing emotional suffering in others ceases as it becomes consumed with feeding on others flesh. This flesh feeding also has the benefit to the Fehrr of regenerating its host body and making it stronger.
10. Population statistics
Fehrr are not too numerous but there are enough of them to cause a problem. Only merged Fehrr can be counted and as such it’s estimated that at least 3% of the world’s population is currently merged with these creatures.
11. Weakness’s
In their corporeal state they have many of the same weaknesses as a normal person. They can just take far more damage than the host could normally. In non-corporeal form they are in desperate need of a host. If a Fehrr is unable to find a suitable host, then it will begin to fade from existence.
12. Separating the Fehrr from the host.
To do this is not an easy task. One must first capture and detain a Fehrr and keep it secured long enough for the Fehrr to lose its grip on the host. But in nearly 90% of all cases this causes the host to die due to the Fehrr connecting to its host’s very soul. It’s a gamble when trying to save a person since removing the Fehrr might also remove the host’s emotions as well. For most it is considered an act of kindness to simply kill the host so their soul can find peace.
13. Special cases.
Not every Fehrr is the same, just like not every person is the same. There are special cases where a Fehrr might stumble onto something other than a normal being. This section deals with those types of people that might one day encounter these wondrous and deadly creatures.
A. A.I.
Simulated intelligence, no matter how lifelike, still lacks a soul and any kind of flesh like body. Therefore Fehrr have no interest in these types of people.
B. Psychics.
Highly intelligent and mentally focused people have the highest resisting rate against Fehrr. So it would stand to reason that those with psychic abilities would be more or less immune to the effects of a Fehrr. But that’s not the case. Psychics have a greater chance of being completely overtaken by Fehrr than those with chronic depression mostly due to having more emotion for the Fehrr to manipulate and feed off of. These types of people create the most intelligent of Fehrr to the point that the Fehrr itself is capable of resisting its most basic urge to kill other hosts and are capable of keeping the host body intact and normal to avoid being detected by hunters. The trade off is less strength for increased intelligence and cunning.
C. Brutes (A.K.A. Juggernaut’s)
At the opposite side of the spectrum are those people with great strength. These people are also highly likely to be overtaken due to being normally angry and aggressive. This type of person usually creates the more stupid Fehrr. Their strength is nigh unstoppable and their anger knows no bounds. They do not have the insight to sit and wait for prey to come to them. They seek it out loudly and noisily and give little thought to coming up with a plan of attack.
D. Synthetic beings.
D1. Genetically altered.
People that were born naturally and later had their genes manipulated. They have no change from standard people when it comes to being effected by a Fehrr. They are still the same people they always were only with updated bodies. Their markings and coloration when merged with a Fehrr might be altered though resulting in a base color other than black.
D2. Genetically engineered.
Having DNA put together to create a new living person is science’s way of doing what Mother Nature already knew how. But it’s the genes being forced together in certain ways to make the being supernaturally strong and smart that makes them different from the rest. Fehrr have much difficulty merging with these kinds of people. But when they succeed, it’s permanent. The only option for removing a Fehrr from this type of person is death.
D3. Cyberneticaly enhanced.
Cybernetics makes little difference to a Fehrr when it comes to possessing a body. But it can only change what is flesh and not metal. But should a persons mind be half robotic they will find themselves in a mental hell as the Fehrr tries to take control while the robotic half fights back. Insanity is usually the fate for these types of people due to sheer conflict. But these people also have the highest chance of forcing the Fehrr out or reclaiming control of themselves with little damage to their soul.
D4. Synthetically created.
People that are made of neither flesh nor metal fall into this category. They are painstakingly created using synthetic genes making them highly adaptable. These types of people are the only one’s that can bond with a Fehrr on a personal level. To think and act as one in mind and body instead of fighting each other for control. The person’s soul is lost but the Fehrr replaces it due to the Fehrr being more natural then synthetic soul it’s replacing could ever be. All of the hosts memories becomes it’s own and they become a new brand of creature all together.
E. Powered.
Too many powers and abilities fall in this category for them all to be listed. But suffice it to say that if someone has the ability to breathe fire, then the Fehrr controlling the host will be able to have roasted meat instead of raw if it so chose. Any natural ability a person has, the Fehrr will also have regardless of whether or not the host even knew he/she had said talent.
F. Extraneous information.
All new findings related to Fehrr regarding extra conditions encountered belong in this category.
F1.Pregnancy.
It has been discovered that the the change to the host's body as the Fehrr takes them over auto-aborts any pregnancy due to the gender nullification of it's mutations. The unborn child simply isn't capable of withstanding the extreme stress. Early pregnancies are the least noticed as the fetus dies and is reabsorbed into the body or is pushed out through physical activity of the host hunting prey. Much later pregnancies are the most heavily noticed as the child is usually born premature and then eaten or just left to die since the Fehrr normally have no interest in something coming out of the host body.
F2. Wings
Wings are something most sentient creatures simply don't have and those that do are usually considered to be part of a demon/angel class of being which is a completely different matter entirely. But for those beings that have natural wings, the Fehrr know how to make major use of them. While the wings tend to go mostly unchanged in appearance besides color changes, the inner workings are anything but normal. The muscles and bones become thicker and more dense to accommodate for much more savage movements, but it limits the ability to fly long distances due to a heavier weight.
F3. Tentacles.
Like wings, tentacles are something most beings simply don't have. Unlike wings, the change of the Fehrr has a slightly different effect on tentacles. When a Fehrr has changed it's host body completely, the extra limbs thin to be more whip like and lengthen considerably. The Fehrr also has no direct control over them as they become changed. Instead, the extra limbs tend to roam and slide over the hosts body and each other in a perverse manner. But when the host finds prey to eat the extra limbs grab and attach themselves to it, jabbing into the victims body like needles as they suck out the innards like a spider with a fly, while the Fehrr starts eating the flesh. Fehrr with tentacles leave the least mess behind when they are finished as the victims blood isn't spilled on the ground in large amounts.

I updated the journal to include this lovely desc from our Top Fehrrologist :3
Makes me love my Fehhr even more
You did a great job on this, So detailed.
Are they robo-racists or something? ---kidding----
They look mean enough to tear this tin can up
but yeah, they'd tear into you like a dog through a slipper O_O
What if the host is pregnant?
If a Fehrr attaches and takes over a host that is with child, it will auto-abort the fetus so as to not slow the host body down in any form.
I'll pass though.
OMG, I totally forget you were the top Fehrrologist.
now we must get the lab picture >.>
First, the capture. I have catch you somehow!
Second, the study. Let's me observe you while I fix the damage done to me in capturing you.
Third, the shock of you transforming back to normal. Cuz, let's face it, there has to be the rare find that goes against the norm.
Fourth, I get a new assistant willing to use her Fehrr instincts and abilities to bring me more Fehrr to study...as well as a few other creatures I might find interesting.
