otti noted me last week with the answer to my story commission contest! (details here)


((Though, to be fair, I always thought  sabinmoon did a lot of the legwork on this one. I'll have to come up with something nice for him too.))


So! What's the answer, you may ask? The main character of the story in question has devised a set of robotic tentacle limbs based on the design of someone named Dr. Astamah, which, as  sabinmoon noticed, is Sanskrit for eighth.

However, what  otti caught that makes for a clear winner at last to this puzzle is as follows: One of Spiderman's most famous villains is Dr. Otto Octavius, or Dr, Octopus, a scientist who ends up with eight limbs, four of which are robotic tentacle limbs of his own design. Octavius, incidentally, is Latin for eighth.
