1. Pricing:
While I am situated in Germany I can assume the majority of people commissioning me will be from the US, so all prices are based in US $.
As for payment in other currencies it is the exchange value equivalent to the US $ pricing (PayPal conversion rates will be used).
Base price / per extra character, image or frame:
Drawing $15 / $10
Simple color $20 / $15
Simple shading $25 / $20
Traced $30 / $25
Flat color $35 / $28
Base shading $40 / $31
Finalized $45 / $35
Backgrounds:
Flat/Gradient FREE
Image $5 - $20 (Depending on complexity and details)
For image examples click THIS LINK or the FA COMMISSIONS TAB.
Additionally prices can be negotiated within a degree and there may be cost reductions if characters are partially obscured (portraits, cutoff from panel border etc.).
2. Payment:
I primarily accept payments via PayPal, withing Germany or the EU payments to my bank account are possible BUT PayPal still is the preferred method.
When paying either do NOT enter a payment description or write “Commission Payment”, NOTHING ELSE (especially no pornographic material as PayPal is edgy there).
Due to this I will likely start out with sending payment requests via PayPal.
3. Ordering:
First chose the level of detail/completion you want your image to be as well as the extra details.
Once decided on your order send it either through the FurAffinity note system OR to the email address DKayComms@hotmail.com.
When sending your order start the subject line, in both the note system as well as the email, with the word “Commission” and possibly a very brief description of what you'd like (Note that emails that don't start with “Commission” WILL be deleted so keep this in mind).
It's best to provide me with an email address for this, otherwise the images will be hosted in a private folder of my Imageshack account and deleted afterward if you wish so (please include this in your messages).
When ordering be as descriptive as possible, however don't trail off into “purple prose” (using overly flowery language instead of being to the point). As a basic rule of thumb, the more exact your description is the better unless you do WANT my interpretation.
If available include links or images for references. If you have color information it's best to send it in a .PNG file to keep the correctness of the color (there currently are issues with my ISP where .JPG images come out compressed making exact color finding difficult).
Also including an upfront OK if you'd allow me to post the image to my FA account would be welcomed as I'd like to exhibit them as well.
4. Limitations:
There are very few limitations to what I am willing to draw. If at most there are certain topics I do not like but will not necessarily reject, though I would possibly ask for some extra money on those (kinda an inconvenience compensation).
Some things that are on my “disliked” list are:
- Killing and excessive gore / mutilation
- Macro rampaging (kinda tying in the above)
- Bursting from inflation (similarly)
- Scalies getting transformed (simply a personal preference but quite flexible now [getting over my issues])
- Cub porn (not lastly due to legality)
Again those are not necessarily “no-go” but keep them in mind when placing your order.
5. The process:
Once your ordered your image I will work on a base pose sketch, this is a VERY simple drawing that only reflect the pictures basic structure and setup (poses, actions, proportions etc.). In this phase changes are easiest to perform so if you have wishes about major changes this is the point to do it.
Once you are satisfied with the basic setup you must pay before I continue on the image. Payment is generally preferred in full, for more expensive works a “payment plan” can be arranged however.
Also there is the option to “complete and hold” in case you can only pay partially. Here I will either fully complete the image and hold until full payment, or finish it to a certain degree and accept payment up to that completion phase, then when you are able to pay fully complete the work.
I am also considering to allow “upgrading” images that way from a simpler to a more complete phase.
HOWEVER, be aware that there are additional costs for me in accepting payment rates due to currency conversion, so if you have to pay in more than two steps I will have to factor those costs in. Also I will only accept rate payments if the costs are significant enough.
If wished you will receive frequent updates on the progress I will mail or PM to you. Changes other than full character and pose changes are still possible in these phases, the earlier you mention them the better.
6. Posting:
Once the image is payed and completed to the ordered level you have the right to freely post and distribute it (as well as all requested work in progress levels), I only retain the right to own the digital originals but every copy is then your property.
You will receive the final file in .PNG format, on demand I can also provide a full size .PNG which will be a very large file though.
The images will have my Copyright stamp on them but you are free to alter or further process your copy, removing the stamp is not desired but also not forbidden, this is your decision.
Again, it would be preferable if you'd tell me in advance if I am allowed to post the image in my gallery.
Also please tell me if giving your name and link to the image in your gallery is OK or you want to remain anonymous (your name not mentioned in the description).
As a personal favor it would of course also be a nice gesture of you to link back to either my userpage or the image in my gallery directly but it's not mandatory.
7. Other information:
The number of commission slots is flexible but influenced by a few factors, so I will not be able to guarantee a set number necessarily. However I will try to get to your orders eventually so please be patient.
As mentioned before I consider the option of having “upgradable” images allowing you to purchase a simpler quality but later upgrade to a more detailed version. Though be aware of the mentioned additional costs due to currency conversion which I'd have to factor in if you want to pay in more than 2 steps.
Another consideration are Edit-Sequences which are essentially one image with slight alterations to give the impression of a sequence. As this would depend on the severity of the edits and I can't give a general pricing as of now.
Be aware that fully body transformation and reshaping IS in most cases considered to be a full frame and priced accordingly.
Other “quality” effects such as cartoon shading are possible as well but too depend on the workload. The estimation is that toon shading will be an additional $5 from the requested quality level. Be aware however that upgrading from toon shading to full shading requires reworking the shading and of course pricing.
I will hold the intermediate steps in the completion of the image stored for at least one year so unless I suffer critical data loss I guarantee they will be available for at least 12 months. The final result of the image will of course be stored indefinitely.
Other forms of payment can be considered as well but are as of now not used.
You can download this file in PDF format for reference.
Be sure to check for changes or updates.

Anyhow I wish you best of luck *hugs*
Good you mention that... though, most people wouldn't be interested in that stuff anyways.
Say uh... I've heard of artists whom when commissioned will choose to draw characters however they want in whatever way they want and deny commissioners the satisfaction of having their characters drawn properly, or in the situation they desire, as well as deny refunds... you don't do that do you?
Afterall, it'd suck if you were one of the people who deserve to have their hands chopped off and eyeballs ripped out.
For the situation that is why i compile a pose sketch first and for the characters looks i can provide "work in progress" sketches (IF the commission was payed already that is). Also providing reference material as possible helps too.
Recently someone put up a journal of their own custom Terms-Of-Service, which breaks some T.O.S. used through-out countless furry sites. Of course, I did not report her to the admin, I really like her art and hope she behaves civilly. I gave her advice and hopes she takes it. Otherwise, maybe she isn't the person I know and the admin maybe should get involved.
Afterall, its not normal to refuses refunds on all art, as well as draw the persons character however they want doing whatever they want and seize ownership of characters you draw for people.
I didn't want her getting banned from FA.
Anyways... if I don't have the means to use Paypal or mail you cash... and I can only pay through cash... how would I pay you?
I'm a trustworthy guy, and I know it's easy to say that over the internet, but I genuinely strive to help people if I can.
If you ever need help with this kind of stuff again, talk to me, and I'll do what I can if I am able to!
Just saying, you may want to specify as of when. Like the exchange rates on the exact day of a commission, or something like that. Or I can imagine some people may take advantage of fluctuating currencies.
What's your disposition on scat?
If it ever does get to my turn can you note me?
