Now I want a lizard tail. How would I go about that?

I've got some amazing techniques to try to gain my giant lizard feet, but you can't have a new set of giant feet without some balancing issues. How can I obtain a real human-proportioned (as in, long and thick enough to look normal (and I use that word very lightly) on a human) lizard's tail? The rule is it has to be attached to me! Preferably something I can feel too.
Give me your suggestions! If you need ideas, check the journal linked above for the creative responses :D

FA+

Use a bicycle pump to make it thicker.
Hope that helps!
Ah, I remember this article from years ago.

Five years away they said! Well, maybe if someone actually puts the research and funding in.
waits 5 years* saves every penny*
Meet me in the lab.
To see whats on the slab.
The only possible side-affects are temporary pains like headaches.
Only one subject has gotten a tumor so far!
First things first, DNA, if you could somehow change your DNA, all the little links and pieces into the form you desired without completely de-stabilizing your genetic code and all of the bodys systems would have to be calibrated for this specific form beforehand so that it could properly function in your body.
This type of transformation would cause the nervious system to grow along the new appendages and would feel more "natural" and give you complete controll. Although there is the matter of the nervious system and how it uplinks to the brain,it might take some brain surgery or perhaps the brain will adapt on its own to the new DNA, although hopefully if the body changes hopefully the mind will not.
But that would be step one, probably through the use of viruses and Nanobots to actually go in and change it.
Then there would be the catalyst, now this is the only part I’m not quite sure on, but once your genetic code was altered, something would be needed to "jump start" the transformation or it would just lie dormant if the body had already finished growing. Or perhaps after altering your genetic code your body will immediately begin to change to adapt to the new code, I’m not sure.
Finally comes in Stem cells, the law of matter states that matter cannot be destroyed or created, but just changed from one form to the next, to alter your body without completely emaciating yourself would require stem cells, or some sort of easily adaptable material to add to your body to offset the growth of things like muscles, bones, organs, feet, or a Tail :P
Thats my theory in a nutshell :P a lot of strange and CRAZY science goes into it, and to anyone actually involved in genetics I may just be a blathering idoit, but its how I see's it!
I'm sure a talented costume prop designer could build one. Those folks at Weta Workshop certainly build some fun stuff.
Random google results for mechanical tails:

Me, I'd probably settle just for something that bends realistically and has a properly fleshy material around it. It would also make for a great base for more elaborate costumes :P
The human tailbone, after all, completes the tripod that we use to sit. So you'd need hip alterations to make up for using the tailbone for a tail.
